With Jade Helm in the South and now in other parts of the United States one can’t help wondering if that will affect the Christian and his conservative beliefs in Biblical morality. My Bible teaches me to reject homosexuality, abortion, psychiatric drug addiction, and many other sins accepted by our society and the current administration. With ISIS making threats to attack targets in the United States one can’t help wondering if Christians will be selected as soft targets. In such cases we may not get an opportunity to flee or fight back. With the coming New World Order Christians can’t help wondering if they will be persecuted for their faith and trust in God alone. Persecution in one manner or another is coming to those who claim to be Christian. So the question must be asked, where and when do we flee persecution? Before we answer that question it must be made very clear that under no circumstances does a Christian ever deny his or her faith if captured by the evil doer. In such cases the Christian may well suffer intense persecution that could lead to a ghastly death. Throughout Christian History up to the present day Christians have stood firmly in the face of their persecutors making the good confession and committing their life to Jesus. I have always taken comfort in the words of Jesus who said, “But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak” (Matthew 10:19), which shows me that Christ is right there with me going through the same sufferings.
On the other hand, if we have opportunity to flee persecution we should. Jesus Christ made this clear to His sent out disciples and it’s still relevant for us living today. Christ said, “But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another…” (Matthew 10:23a). Not every city or country will accept our testimony. You may have tried witnessing your faith to have a solid wall of hostility erected against you. Perhaps in the beginning this hostility will only consist of harassing words; then threats to our lively hood (lack of promotion or termination of employment); and, then finally threats against our life or the life of our family. It may be necessary to shake the dust off of your feet as a testimony against them and then flee immediately into another city (job, community, state, or country). Jesus Christ’s whole point is to keep sharing your testimony, keep sharing the gospel, and keep sharing the truth; if it’s not accepted in one place then move to another place for you will not get through all the cities until He returns in glory (See Matthew 10:23b). Friends, don’t ever give up sharing the gospel if it’s rejected and persecution comes to your doorstep. Flee the persecution and keep sharing the truth. I have personally been viscously attacked many times for sharing the gospel and presently even on Facebook. I must admit it’s a lot easier on Facebook, delete, ban, and move on to others who are willing to listen.
On the other hand, what if persecution is no longer limited, but has grown to a much larger scale encompassing an entire nation(s) and one day globally, new instructions are necessary. The Gospel has been preached to all nations and Christ’s Second Coming is at hand, speaking to His disciples Jesus says, “When ye therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand). Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains” (Matthew 24:15-16). Also read 17-18 which describes the urgency: don’t return for your belongings, or clothing, but flee immediately into the mountains. The remarkable thing about prophecy is it’s fulfillment to those who originally received it and its final fulfillment at some future date. That is the case here for His disciples did see the Abomination of Desolation caused by the Roman legions who set up idols inside the Temple at Jerusalem along with their standards of a golden eagle, which has been documented by Eusebius and Josephus. Not only did they witness these events, but they fled to the mountains beyond the Jordan into Pella and Mt. Libanns and found safety.
But what of the future meaning of this important prophecy given to us by the Lord; is there a meaning at the end when the gospel has truly been preached to every nation? As with the first Abomination of Desolation so it is with the last. Rome the global powerhouse of that day stood in the place of God by putting idols inside the Temple, banishing the daily sacrifice, and requiring everyone to demonstrate their allegiance to Rome through a pinch of incense and proclaiming Caesar as Lord (God). The law of God was overturned by producing a new set of laws for mankind to live by and to pledge its allegiance. We are living in the dawning of a new day when all the great powers are working feverishly together to bring forth a New World Order that will take the place of God by instituting their own laws, banishing the testimony of the Christian religion and requiring everyone to show their allegiance by accepting its laws above the laws and counsel of God. They will say, “Keep your worthless religion but you will follow our counsel or suffer the consequences.” To this day I still believe that the powers to be are using ISIS to strike fear into the hearts of God’s people so we would be willing to do almost anything to keep them out of our country and away from us. Moreover, I believe ISIS is a foretaste of what we can expect from the New World Order once God’s Children begin to reject their immoral laws that allow homosexuality, same sex marriage, abortion, and required counseling from the professionals of psychology. As so called natural disasters strike relentlessly against an immoral nation and many are left homeless, without food, shelter, and their prescription drugs they will become easy targets for the enemy. Even so called natural disasters will be used to drive us into the camp of the enemy. When this happens we must flee to the mountains or be taken captive and persecuted for our faith.
And when you go, don’t go empty handed. Don’t forget your Bible and a few good books needed to shed light on their new world religion in disguise and how to counsel those who have been separated from their drugs and worldly counselors. Not everyone with you will be a spiritual giant and will need your guidance and ongoing discipleship to keep them both committed to God and to the safety of the group. In the last days prior to Christ coming back for His own, I envision many small groups of committed believers throughout the entire world hunkered down together escaping those in power who wish to do them harm lest they repent of their total dependence upon God and be willing to follow their counsel above God’s counsel in His infallible and all sufficient Word. Jesus Christ continues, “And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be ” (Matthew 24:19-20). As God’s wrath is poured out upon the evil cities of mankind it will be time to flee into the mountains to wait for His glorious return in the clouds for, “Every eye shall see!”
