Transformation

Transformation

Our gospel is the gospel of transformation or it’s no gospel at all. We do not deny that forgiveness and the atonement for sin is absolutely essential, because without it man is trapped in his sin and transformation is just … a pipe dream. The world believes that they can change people through their counseling and psychotropic drugs, but they are simply fooling themselves, which has been proven over and over again. Just recently we have seen once again a patient of psychological counseling and the use of psychotropic drugs do the unthinkable.  Until a person is delivered from the power of sin then it is quite impossible for them to really change. It deeply saddens me that the world is trapped in their sin and quite unwilling to do anything about it. I know the world is doing its best to help people change, but tragically they are only making matters worse. Admittedly, some people appear to get better or just get better on their own, but their heart is never really changed.  I will never doubt their sincerity, but I am convinced that their way will never work. Only God’s way will ever change man into the kind of person he was created to be.

Let’s take a look at God’s way. It’s not just putting on a new set of traditions or learning how to play church. On the other hand, it is all about following the Way. In following the Way man learns how to put off the old life and put on the new. He learns how to take all of God’s commandments seriously and put them into his life. These are the two things that will set us apart from the world. As bright shining stars in a dark sky we as Christians will shine brilliantly in the night if we remain faithful to Jesus.  Never underestimate the struggle with the old sin nature who simply does not want to die. It will be the most difficult thing you have ever done, but with God all things are possible. As the butterfly struggles to free itself from the cocoon he metamorphoses into a beautiful new creation.  Friend, if you don’t’ believe that Jesus Christ can really transform you then you won’t believe it will transform anyone else and then your gospel preaching is only empty rhetoric. Transformation believes that the old life has passed away and behold all things are new. Your past life can no longer hold you in bondage to a static personality, but you have been set free to a new dynamic personality that’s being changed into the likeness of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  As you grow from one degree of glory to another you learn to become citizens of the Kingdom.

Deep down I believe everyone really wants to change the world to make it a better place in which to live. We want to see righteousness reign from sea to sea. We want all of our leaders to walk in holiness. Yet, we have heard a lot lately about the world being on the wrong path and the United States is quite divided on how to get back on the right path. Both Republicans and Democrats claim that their way is the best and we must make a choice, the right choice, or this country will surely fall. But let me say it as loudly and as clearly as I can that their way will not really change anything. The world does not have the answers and solutions to build a brave new world. There is only one way that will ever help this country and the world. But somehow over the years mankind and Christians in particular have forgotten all about that Way. We have fallen for the lie that God’s way is not relevant concerning the ways of the world. Now some will say you can’t talk like that because the world is under the judgment of God and will only get worse and there is nothing we can do about it. And I would say not so quickly, because you have only half of the truth. You are correct that God is judging the world for its gross immorality, but at the same time the Kingdom must continue to grow. Clearly there will be a great polarization between good and evil as we fast approach the end of days.

In every teaching concerning the Kingdom this truth was self evident. The Kingdom must grow, lives must change, transformed by the power of God, and the kingdom citizens would learn how to engage the real enemy as children of light. Making statements to the press, conducting boycotts, or appreciation days will not change anything. Voting for the right or wrong person will not change anything. As long as man’s heart is evil and refuses to be transformed by God the world will only slip deeper and deeper into the abyss. Eating a little chicken sandwich will change nothing! We must return to the whole gospel allowing God to deliver us from our sin and make us into a new creation. You want to change the world, you want to make a statement then allow God to change you, to make you a child of the King and a soldier of the Light. “In the coming days, a solid theological belief system may be our only hope for standing firm”… and engaging the real enemy.

  1. Dear Rev. Blair:

I really appreciate your message on putting on the new man and agree with you that many cannot die to the old self. I don’t suppose that keeps them from going to Heaven but it would be nice to see the fruits of the spirit from one that prides himself as being Christian. As long as one loves the world and himself, I don’t think he can have the heart of God. Just speaking out loud here.

I appreciate your freshness and sincerity and I hope that others see what your trying to accomplish for our Savior. I am the one that commented on your lighthouse. I think your heading and the lighthouse are very calming and soothing to the soul. I really like seeing the old lighthouse – I like anything that says LIGHT as He is the light.

I praise you for your good works and God Bless You!

    B Harmon
