If the current division in this country and from around the world goes unabated, then the devil will have won. If the mudslinging and hateful rhetoric continues, then we will have made a path for the coming Antichrist to exercise his dominion over all humanity. If the marching, the vandalism, and the fighting continues, then we will become the devil’s kingdom that will be cast into utter darkness and decay. As Christians, we must resist the powers of darkness and the devil, but our strategy must change. Destruction, persecution, and death are on the horizon if we don’t change course immediately. We need a new resistance. We need a resistance ordained by God.
We have all been quite busy, since our awakening of what’s been happening over the past sixty years. We have had our share of rallies, marches, and protest. We have posted are memes, secret recordings, and quotes from the other side. We have followed most of the same tactics of the other side being careful not to cross the line; well, especially in public view. On the other hand, we have voted and prayed that our side would win so that we can bring God’s Holy Laws to bear on the other side. Our unspoken motto often repeated in most of our minds is, “Repent or go to jail.” Unfortunately, all this has not worked out so well. We could never match the other side in their shocking vulgarity and their unchecked brutality. As the resistance, we need a new plan or rules of engagement. Let’s look together at God’s Holy Word to ordain our resistance movement.
Before we continue, we all must resist. There is no sitting on the sidelines. We must engage the enemy. I don’t think any of you need to be reminded who the enemy is and how the old devil has brought them this far to stand against God’s Holy commands. They have had sixty years to prepare and we are just now getting started. Yes, for the most part, they look, dress and talk the same way we do. They may even go to the same church, but on the inside, they are working for the other side. They are working for the devil even if they don’t admit it. If they are for the killing of unborn children, they are working for the devil. If they are for the homosexual, the transgender, bestiality, or any other form of sexual perversion, then they are working for the devil. If they have substituted psychology for trusting in God alone, then they are clearly working for the devil. If they agree that the Bible and prayer must be removed from public education, then clearly, they are working for the devil. So, how do we fight back against the enemy?
Well, it needs to get personal and up close. Our real success on social media is seriously questioned. We need to speak or write to a much larger audience than a few select friends allowed to see our post on social media. Expand your horizons. If need be, get a blog, write a book, publish a song or teach in your church. Let everyone know that the rules of engagement must change. When the Bible says we need to come out from among them, it means just that. Stop following their ways. Believe me, God’s ways are completely the opposite and much more powerful. So, how do we confront those working for the other side? It’s good to always start with prayer. If need be, do it silently or later, but don’t let it interfere with your listening power. If we listen long enough with serious concentration, we will hear their struggles. We will hear and feel their pain. God will reveal their needs, just don’t be shocked.
The second thing we need to do is try to meet their needs. The Bible says, “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head” (Romans 12:20). Let’s be clear the Bible is talking about your enemy. This food and water is the most basic needs for their survival. Let me suggest it also includes their emotional and psychological needs for which their counseling and drugs have not helped much, if at all. It includes all of their basic needs for survival. Once we have determined their real needs from active listening, then as a Christian offer to meet their needs. Let them know that you’re doing it out of Christian love. Believe me, it will be just like heaping hot coals on their heads. It will bring tears to the hardest person. Don’t forget their greatest need is salvation. Learn how to share the simple Gospel, then lead them to accept Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior. There is no greater joy than seeing a sinner repent and ask God for forgiveness. Also, don’t forget to agree with them in your discussion on the points that you can. The truth is the truth, no matter which side is proclaiming it. I have personally hoped that our side would take a stronger stance on protecting our beautiful creation and its delicate environment.
The Bible also says, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21). They say that most people make an immediate decision to fight or flee when confronted by a hostile enemy. From my Seminary days when confronted with a loaded weapon aimed at me demanding money, I realized that there is a third option. Seek to understand the needs of your enemy. Although I was unable to save the establishments money, I can only tell you, because of my sincere concern for his well-being it kept us from getting hurt and had a profound effect upon this young man who kept apologizing. For a moment I thought I had talked him out of the armed robbery and that he would actually accept my offer to help. I don’t think many of us will need to deal with such extremes, but the lesson is still relevant. We can overcome evil with good. We must try very hard not to fight back as the pagans do. The early Christians learned this lesson well and their persecution was later seen as the seeds of the church.
Finally, the Bible says we should not be, “A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:19). We have heard a lot, as of late, about people on both sides spreading lies in order to make the other side look worse than what they really are. Many times words are taken out of context, pictures are photoshopped or even videos are slightly doctored or slowed down to give a different effect. Perhaps we have all been guilty of this at one time or another. We cannot hope to bring peace if we keep throwing logs on the fire. Reconciliation is impossible if we keep sharing things that are hurtful to the other side and that may not be true. Don’t you realize that the more we read and share this kind of hurtful rhetoric that it will only raise your level of hate, tempting you to strike back even harder? As Christians we should remember what the Bible says, “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord” (Romans 12:19). Let me encourage everyone who calls upon the Name of Christ to join the new resistance movement; a new resistance ordained by God. Amen
