A Critical Time for Getting Direction from God

If God is really your friend, then you want to listen to Him. We need to hear what God really says, and not what we think He says. I can’t overemphasize how important it is to speak with one unified voice from God, who is One. This is a very critical time, not only for our country but for the entire world that needs explicit direction from God. If you tell me that you have a lot of friends on this earth, then I will ask you, “Do you enjoy listening to your friends?” Do you really want to hear what they say, or are you more interested in just hearing your own voice? True friends listen to one another. My heart aches to hear the voice of my wife, who can no longer speak because she has advanced Alzheimer’s. My ears also ache to hear the still small voice of God. I have learned a lot about listening over the years and even taught classes on how to listen in the business world and also as a Christian counselor. The first thing I noticed about most people, is that they don’t want to listen unless it’s listening to themselves. They love to hear the sound of their own voice or even the sound of their thoughts. I would say that people like this don’t have very many true friends; most of their friends are in name only. Unfortunately, this also applies to calling God your friend, when you don’t take time to listen.

Let me say upfront, that listening is an art, it takes a lot of hard work. So, if you are interested, then let’s proceed. Remember, dear children, true friends listen to one another. And if God is your friend then we must learn how to listen, to really listen. Let’s be clear, God is not a man! If we are not listening, and God knows it, then He will not speak. It is a proven fact, that man has become very good at pretending that he is listening when he is not. Man has learned how to conveniently turn off his hearing, even while smiling when he does not want to hear what the other person is saying, especially if the other person is casting insults at the speed of light or making idle threats. No, I can tell you exactly what they are doing. Instead of listening, they are thinking about their response, ready to launch it the moment they get an opening. You might be thinking, what does this have to do with listening to God? Everything! When most people enter their prayer closet, they have their opening and off they go with a laundry list of complaints, or things they need or want to see accomplished. When they do, they are not listening. They may be storming the gates of heaven, but they are not listening.

Typically what happens when a person enters his prayer closet with his laundry list, even if he ends it with a generalized plea to lead me, guide me, and speak to me, it’s only done to cover all the bases because he has not learned how to listen. So, the starting place must be, after you have emptied your laundry list, then you must empty your mind. Yes, you heard me correctly, empty your mind of everything. No, I never did say, that this would be easy! Clear your mind completely and be ready to hear His every word. This should be the same when we approach His words in the Bible. Empty your mind of all that you have been taught, along with all of your preconceived ideas, and allow God to speak to you through His words in the Bible. I can easily spend two to three hours on one verse of Scripture allowing God to speak to me before moving on to the next verse. Roll the verse over and over again in your mind blocking out anything and everything that would pull your mind away. Now coming to God completely alone without anything but a blank slate, nothing in your mind, with no preconceived ideas, and no laundry list of prayer requests may seem to be a little more difficult, but it doesn’t need to be so. For the novice, you will always need to begin by bringing the Holy Scripture with you, at least until His Word is firmly planted in your heart. The indwelling Spirit will often pull upon the Scripture bringing it to your mind, even using Scripture that you may not have looked at in years.

Now that you have completely emptied your mind of those preconceived ideas on what God is permitted to say, those ideas that must align with your own pathetic, contradicting theology, then you are ready to listen to your true friend. A word of caution is necessary at this point, God will not contradict or violate His own words in the Bible (His actual words, not your interpretation of them). So, the very important next step is, we must be willing to spend all the time necessary in silence and solitude. The ancient Christians could spend days doing this, whereas moderns have a most difficult time spending more than a half-hour and if it’s a full hour then they make a big show of it. Also, the time, choice of time, and length of time come directly from God, or you are wasting your time. The time could come in the middle of the night, or when you are getting ready for bed, or it can come when you purposely enter your prayer closet for no other reason than to hear the voice of God. It can also come when you are quietly praising and thanking the Lord for everything that He has done for you. Just be ready at any time or any place to hear that beautiful still small voice of God. How thrilling it is to hear the voice of God.

Finally, this is exactly how we should feel about hearing the voice of our true earthly friends, especially our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Unfortunately, we don’t really want to hear from them any more than we want to hear from God unless they or He says exactly what we want to hear. This is why we have so much division in the world today and it’s getting worse by the moment. The divisions keep splintering again and again into smaller groups of people who just want to hear what they have to say. They love their own little echo chambers accented by social media. There is no wonder why there are so many divorces, so many denominations, so many different hate groups, and so many demonstrations. No one wants to listen, to really listen to what the other person has to say, and this includes God, the One who created us. I have seen this many times in how people communicate on messenger or text messages. Before you ever get finished with your message the other person is already typing away, without ever taking the time to read what you had just written. Dear children, true friends want to listen to one another. Are you a true friend of God?

Until you truly learn to listen to what others say, you will miss much of what God is saying. Although God often speaks to us through the indwelling Spirit during our times of silence and solitude, He also speaks through others when they don’t even know that they are being used as God’s mouthpiece. Maybe it’s just one word spoken unbeknownst to them that will open a whole new understanding of God’s magnificent plan for your life. God has been speaking a lot lately and no one is listening. The Bible says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). “Thus saith the Lord,” appears to be falling on deaf ears. We are living in perilous times when everyone is divided against one another with two old men vying to lead the country. One supposedly just speaking in gaffs, while the other one supposedly just speaking in lies. We really need to hear what God wants to say to the hearts and minds of His children, His true friends. Are you listening? Let me suggest that you review last week’s video of what God is saying to us now. The name of the video is, “To the Christians Living in America.” No matter how bad the world becomes, don’t let it affect you. You can follow all their rules as long as they don’t violate God’s beautiful commandments and still let your light shine. Yes, even through a mask. I just learned last week that our eyes shine brightly even when others can’t see our big smile and the love of God in our hearts. Dear children, stand firm and listen to hear God’s voice.

Blissful Living in a Dark World (Video)

Many Christians desire a blissful life, while the powers of darkness close in from every side. Many of them long for peace of times past, while dissension and hatred rule the day. Many long for joy, where now it’s just a fleeting memory from days gone by. Most have longed for a blissful life in a dark world. As children of light in a dark world, most have longed for the fruit of that light that would carry them beyond the memories of joy and peace to the blissful life of living in His presence. Blissful Living in a Dark World

Most have longed for that life where time is no more and where we are set free from its aging process to a life of being forever young; to be set free from the confines and restrictions of time itself. That’s blissful living in eternity. As God’s beloved children we can have a foretaste of that now in this life encapsulated in the rigors of time, death, and dying. We as God’s beloved children can become transformed in Christ to experience this blissful life that’s well beyond most people’s imagination, that ventures to the mountain top of love and tranquility. If you’re interested in making this a reality in your life, keep reading.

Do you want that incredible joy and the peace that defies understanding while the indwelling Spirit fills every fiber of your body? There are those very powerful, yet gentle, electrical impulses that make you feel totally alive. Some have described it as being cuddled up under warm blankets on a cold night. You are in the presence of the Lord. As you are lifted up in love there is no fear, no pride, but only a divine humility where we don’t run ahead flooding the throne room with questions. No, we simply listen, allowing God to direct our thoughts and supply the answers on questions not asked. We are thrilled to rest in the glory of His light. As children of light, we can have a foretaste of that blissful life to come by discerning what pleases the Lord. The Bible says, “Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8b -10). So, the key to this blissful life is discerning what pleases the Lord. We know this because pleasing the Lord has led us into absolute bliss. So, let’s not pass over this very powerful verse, without discovering the timeless truths on how to please the Lord. A good starting place is understanding that it’s impossible to please the Lord without faith (See Hebrews 11:6).

Faith is much more than believing all the facts and truths in our sacred doctrines. Although it’s extremely important, it’s even more than believing all the truth in Holy Scripture. Faith is believing, but it’s also trusting in Christ completely to do everything that He has promised. It’s also trusting in Christ to keep us from falling into the snare of the devil or tripped up by the powers of darkness. It is trusting in God alone to solve all of our problems, without the help of self-righteous man. For most that’s easier said than done.  Most have learned in early Christian education or discipleship to proclaim loudly that they are trusting in God. It does not count as trusting in God if we agree to try His way, but when the promises don’t quickly materialize, we then take matters into our own hands. For example, we can proclaim that we believe the Bible that says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (II Peter 1:3). The Bible does not mince words when it says, “given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness through the KNOWLEDGE of Him.” So, the Bible has given us all the knowledge necessary to live life and for living a godly life. We can easily say we believe this truth but it’s much more difficult to trust God to deliver this information without the help of self-righteous man.

Once that faith and trust have been established in the believer’s life, then we are ready to proceed allowing the indwelling Spirit to have complete control of our life by heeding His promptings to put off the old life and put on the new life in Christ. As Christ grows us from one degree of glory to another, then we are experiencing transformation in Christ. We will discover quickly that Christ is our true Counselor. Along the way, we will be confronted with many choices in an evil world. As spiritual fruit is produced in the believer’s life, then we will be led to make the proper choices by choosing what is, “good, right, and true.” Every time we make the proper choice, it will please the Lord. So, how do we know what is good, right and true? We know it through the study of Holy Scripture and by listening to God through the Holy Spirit. Make the wrong choice and you will displease God, possibly grieve the Holy Spirit, and reap the consequences of your unholy action. Fear not, for the indwelling Spirit dwells in every believer gently leading and guiding them along life’s narrow path. We simply must learn how to listen to His voice through prayer and meditation. We must learn to be sensitive to His nudges and promptings that are confirmed by Holy Scripture or the direction given to us by other mature believers, who can properly quote Scripture in its proper context.

The more you walk in the light the easier it becomes to discern what pleases the Lord. On the other hand, the more you walk in darkness the more difficult it is to please Him. Let’s be very clear, on what walking in darkness is. To knowingly disobey any of God’s commandments is walking in darkness. To have anxious thoughts, to dwell on past wrongs, to have thoughts of revenge or thoughts about getting even, is walking in darkness. To hate others by constantly slamming them or finding fault is still walking in darkness. This should give us pause about the news media and social media. To worry about things that you cannot change is walking in darkness. Yet, we have heard about how anxiety has gripped a whole nation. To fear the unknown or what’s currently falling upon the world is walking in darkness still. To trust in others to solve your emotional and psychological problems is clearly walking in darkness and the grip of Satan. I have already written about how the psychiatric industry will be overwhelmed, which the world powers will use to their advantage. To deny any of the great and precious promises in the Bible for believers is still walking in darkness. We will never discern what pleases the Lord if we are walking in darkness.

We must learn how to walk in the light of His glory if we want to experience the blissful life. The Bible says, “for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God” (John 12:43). Many have never really walked in the light of His glory because they are more interested in receiving the praise of men. Many believers in these dark days, desire praise from self-righteous man. Deep down they want others to brag on them and congratulate them for their work, even their work for the Lord. These people are not walking as children of light. To walk as children of light, then we must aim for the only thing that will follow us to heaven. The Bible says, “But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way” (I Corinthians 12:31). Loving God and others are at the apex of the Christian experience and lies at the heart of a blissful life in Him. It is a more excellent way! There is nothing more important than loving God and others. To do so, truly pleases the Lord, moving Him to offer His praise to us by sharing the light of His glory. As we walk in the light of His glory, the world will not give us any recognition or appreciation. As we walk in the light of His glory our faces will shine forth as the noon-day sun. As we walk in the light of His glory, all of God’s love will flow through us to others. As we walk in the light of His glory, we will experience the blissful life. As Christians, this is what we long for every day of our lives, blissful living in a dark world.

The Fulfillment of Future Shock

In today’s world, the younger generation sees things as normal, the older generation sees things as the new normal, and the faithful remnant sees it as the fulfillment of future shock. This is a day when time is siphoned off by the evil world and the powers of darkness. Some say, “Where has the time gone” where others proclaim that “time appears to be moving faster.” All of this is adding to the epidemic of stress in the world, where many cry out saying, there’s just not enough time to get everything done. Of course, the side effects of all this stress is unproductive people in the workplace and failed relationships because people feel overwhelmed. Most feel as though their growing responsibilities in life are more than what they can handle. We must learn to redeem the time, to “buy back” the time stolen from us by Satan and his host of evil.
