We can all disagree on eschatology and the timing of Christ’s Second Coming, but we cannot disagree on our need for repentance. My concern as a pastor for many years is that most don’t have a full understanding of what they need to repent of and more importantly how to properly repent. Most people qualify their need for repentance by what they see in others. If they see others on the news or social media with what they perceive as a much greater sin, then it often leads them to overlook the sin in their own lives. It’s very easy for the self-righteous to look down on others while ignoring their own so-called little sins. Therefore, our goal is to stop judging others, so that we have ample time to examine our own sins. Yes, it will take a great deal of time and effort to look within to examine our own character, our own thinking, and our own behavior. If we are honest, then we will soon discover that we all need repentance, including ourselves. Let’s look at the process together on how to look within to discover every unknown sin that has clouded our eyesight, then we will discuss the process of true repentance. The powers of darkness have much more power and authority over our thinking than most people are willing to admit. I have been writing sermons to preach, blog articles, news briefs, and books for many years now as I am led by the Holy Spirit, but one thing I have noticed is that some things have a much greater appeal than others. I wonder if it’s just how the wind is blowing or if there is a much greater force at work leading people to either accept or reject what is being said. I have noticed also that the world can lose interest in a topic or story very quickly even if it’s of great importance. They say that humanity’s retention span is about two weeks. The news outlets and social media platforms are keen on that idea and are quick to develop new interests to pull humanity along giving them new things to pique their interest, giving them new thoughts to control them, to consume their time. As a pastor for many years, I have discovered that many who claim to know and follow the Lord are not much different than the world by always wanting something new to pique their interest. Moreover, I have found that they are always desiring new undiscovered truth instead of understanding the depth of God’s plan for humanity. Continue reading Being Told What to Think About
If God is really your friend, then you want to listen to Him. We need to hear what God really says, and not what we think He says. I can’t overemphasize how important it is to speak with one unified voice from God, who is One. This is a very critical time, not only for our country but for the entire world that needs explicit direction from God. I can’t overemphasize how important it is to speak with one unified voice from God, who is One. This is a very critical time, not only for our country but for the entire world that needs explicit direction from God. If you tell me that you have a lot of friends on this earth, then I will ask you, “Do you enjoy listening to your friends?” Do you really want to hear what they say, or are you more interested in just hearing your own voice? True friends listen to one another. My heart aches to hear the voice of my wife, who can no longer speak because she has advanced Alzheimer’s. My ears also ache to hear the still small voice of God. I have learned a lot about listening over the years and even taught classes on how to listen in the business world and also as a Christian counselor. The first thing I noticed about most people, is that they don’t want to listen unless it’s listening to themselves. They love to hear the sound of their own voice or even the sound of their thoughts. I would say that people like this don’t have very many true friends; most of their friends are in name only. Unfortunately, this also applies to calling God your friend, when you don’t take time to listen. Continue reading A Critical Time for Getting Direction from God
Jesus Christ stated that some people simply aren’t fit for the Kingdom. What? Yes, that’s correct! Until they change their way of thinking, they are not fit for the kingdom. This has proven to be a huge problem in today’s world. Many have come into the church without changing their way of thinking. They have come into the church and have expected, no demanded, that the church change its way of thinking to fit their interests and desires.
