God is Love – A Polemic against Atheists

If God is love then why did He tell the children of Israel, “Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man” (Numbers 31:17). This verse along with many other verses out of the Old and New Testament atheist use to supplant the love of God for their own misguided interpretation. Furthermore, they have concluded that all religions are evil being the cause of numerous wars and atrocities inflicted upon their fellow man. Then atheists typically conclude their argument by stating if God is love then why does He allow all the evil in the world. As we near the end of time atheists have become arrogantly emboldened while most believers remain silent. I often wonder if this silence is caused by fear or the believer’s lack of biblical knowledge. Let’s remember dear children that He who is in us is stronger than he who is in the world. (See I John 4:4) It’s past time to take our stand against the foolishness of this world by wielding the sword of the Spirit with all truth from His anointed Word.

Letters to a Church in Exile – Letter Two

Letter Number Two: Start Influencing the World. When we elect a president of the United States of America that has said publicly that no one religion has a corner on the truth and has shown this by his inclusion of the teachings from other world religions in his speeches then we have stopped influencing the world. Or when we allow the Dalai Lama to give the opening prayer at the U.S. Senate then we have stopped influencing the world. Or when most churches have now integrated the teachings of psychology into their biblical counseling then we have stopped influencing the world. Or when we have allowed our children to attend public schools that no longer teach creationism, stripped their walls of the Ten Commandments, and has kept our children from praying or sharing Christ publicly then we have stopped influencing the world. Tragically the world is now influencing the church. Jesus Christ summed it up by saying, ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men” (Matthew 5:13) Our influence, our testimony is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men!  Why, because we have lost our saltiness.

A World Without Christ

What would it look like, a world without Christ? For the transformed believer in Christ it may seem too horrible to imagine. Yet, in the midst of the encroaching darkness we must not only imagine such a scenario we must contemplate its coming reality. In a dark world without Christ it would be totally left alone. Without Christ all religious instruction from previous ages and the sacred writings of the New Testament would be meaningless. Very few would understand the depth of its teachings or how to live by its standards. Essentially, the world is left alone in its fight against gross immorality, wars, domestic abuse, and emotional problems plaguing the planet. Many in the world would still hang on to their old superstitions, gods and goddess, while the so called enlightened ones would develop their own strategies and humanistic beliefs to deal with the worlds problems. Counseling centers and drug stores would more than dot the landscape in a worldwide quest to reign in fallen humanity. The world would be no better off as horrific crimes would increase in number and magnitude. Real lasting peace among the nations would slip away to continued regional and global conflicts with ever increasing terrorism destroying life and property. Yet, those of the Star Trek generation still hold onto their hope of a humanistic world of peace and tranquility without Christ. Continue reading A World Without Christ

Stand Firm: Time Is Running Out

Stand Firm Time is Running OutThis following sermon was preached on December 30, 2012 at the Teravista Fellowship Baptist Church in Round Rock, TX

As we fast approach the end of days it will be extremely difficult to stand firm. Standing firm will be especially difficult for those who have wasted their time on meaningless debates and have not developed a solid theological belief system. Core beliefs have been completely ignored while endless arguments are waged over mere words (See II Timothy 2:14, 23). Their false humility and unspiritual minds puff them up capturing weak Christians and casting them into a bed of greater confusion. They go to great length to explain their slant on Christianity while overlooking the historic doctrines believed and practiced by devout Christians from ages past.
