Matthew 24

Matthew 24Throughout every church age since the time of Christ Matthew 24 has been ruthlessly dissected and variously translated in an attempt to make it align with one’s own eschatological viewpoint. Often times the main overarching themes of the sacred text have been completely ignored. Today I would like to walk you through what I see as the most important overarching themes, in essence what the text really teaches to help us stand firm until the end. We are immediately confronted with the many signs that would accompany the last days and should always give the reader pause that he is actually living in the last days. For example, we have always seen wars and rumors of wars since the first century and will continue to do so until the end, which are tracked so meticulously by the evening news (See Matthew 24:6). We have also seen nations and kingdoms rise up against one another in battle; we have also seen famines and earthquakes around the world with an ever increasing severity measured and reported instantly via the internet and Smartphones (See Matthew 24:7). For two thousand years we have seen the saints of God viciously attacked and persecuted to death in every conceivable way (See Matthew 24:9-10). As wickedness and hatred increase marching across the world stage, we have also seen the gospel of Jesus Christ preached in every nation bringing millions into the everlasting Kingdom of God (See Matthew 24:12-14). Through all this the constant refrain is that these will be terrible days full of dread and “distress unequaled from the beginning the world until now – and never be equaled again” (See Matthew 24:15-22). Time is Running Out

Time is Running OutAs we fast approach the end of days it will be extremely difficult to stand firm. Standing firm will be especially difficult for those who have wasted their time on meaningless debates and have not developed a solid theological belief system. Core beliefs have been completely ignored while endless arguments are waged over mere words (See II Timothy 2:14, 23). Their false humility and unspiritual minds puff them up capturing weak Christians and casting them into a bed of greater confusion. They go to great length to explain their slant on Christianity while overlooking the historic doctrines believed and practiced by devout Christians from ages past. As more people flee from the local church no longer resting under the authority and protection of their spiritual fathers they have become easy prey for the devil and his league of false teachers (See I Corinthians 4:15; Hebrews 13:17). As the online community grows exponentially and communication is established with many people who claim to be Christians there is no way to really examine their spiritual fruit (See Matthew 7:15-16). And for those who have not properly developed a solid theological belief system they will be easily swayed by every wind of doctrine, always debating, always arguing, and never arriving at the truth (See Ephesians 4:11-14). Pulling Back the Veil

If you could pull back the spiritual veil and see what Satan is doing in these last days would it be of interest to you? If you could see how he is sending out so much information on the internet, the news media, and YouTube to confuse Christians and set them up to be taken captive by the coming Antichrist would that be of interest to you? We live in an age that has been called the information age, because most of the world’s population has immediate access to nearly every subject known to man. So prolific is this information that it would be impossible to fully understand or to assimilate it with our finite minds. The world is on information overload, and there is nothing they can do about it. In the information age, many half truths are circulating over the internet and social networks. Suffering for Christ

Why must we suffer for Christ? As we fast approach the end of days this is one question you want answered. The Bible says, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on … Continue reading Suffering for Christ
