There was a time when I was young and foolish riding on the winds of desire and prosperity, now I am old, rejoicing only in the light of His glory. We all have a story to tell. Some stories would shock our sensibilities while others might help us to recall our own struggles if we were honest. Contrary to our earlier experiences in the home of our blessed parents we all tend to go in our own direction realized by the eventual outcome of our siblings and childhood friends. The winds of change can be harsh and unforgiving in a world that is quickly rejecting the moral imperatives of our religious upbringing. We all have a story to tell even if some of our anchors are more secure than others in our early ethical teachings about what is right and wrong. As we recall the horror of wrong choices it’s most difficult to put them into words, but essential to realize just how far we have come by the grace of God. Being cast into a world of lawlessness and unimaginable evil it’s a wonder that my very brief homelessness on the streets of New York City didn’t leave an irrevocable mark on my consciousness. Each step of the way, unknown at the time, God gracefully brought forth deliverance from the horrific consequences of a life gone astray. Although there would be more years ahead of wrong choices and their inevitable consequences, in time the path ahead would become clear. Continue reading Stepping Into the Light of His Glory
We are living in a chaotic world where people and institutions appear to have gone stark raving mad. Most people are saying and doing the unthinkable. On the present trajectory one wonders if the world will survive. Sadly most Christians are caught up in this madness going from bad to worse. Has the world lost its mind as we are being plunged into insanity and the coming apocalypse? This is a question that should haunt all of us. Although we have not yet seen the walking dead, we are seeing more of the population suffering from an increasing number of mental disorders that are causing absolute pandemonium and unbelievable lawlessness. Even our government cannot function because of the anarchy and hateful divisions. None of this appears to be God’s purpose for our lives. The whole world has drifted back into darkness believing that humanity can solve all of its mounting problems. Unfortunately, they can’t. With the coming increase in global suffering, it will only harden the hearts of humanity. Most will blame God and seek to eliminate his followers. As evil and darkness invades our world, God still has the same purpose for humanity. Simply put God’s purpose for our life is transformation, so, that we can become all that God created us to be. It is the Spirit of God that helps us to make the mental ascent to heavenly bliss. Without the Spirit it would be impossible. Without the beautiful mind created by God it would be impossible. It’s not only possible for the followers of Jesus Christ, but also essential to maintain our sanity in a world gone mad. All the hateful rhetoric and all the horrible actions of humanity begins in the mind. As we fast approach the End of Time, Satan and the powers of darkness have taken over total control of what most people think even if they vehemently deny it. Satan wants your mind. Thoughts from the enemy come in like a flood leading humanity to think the most horrendous thoughts even if they don’t express those thoughts openly. Often times those thoughts from the enemy will return again and again leading most to dwell on those thoughts for hours at a time as if they were their own thoughts. As a believer, if you are honest, you too have had to contend with these unwarranted thoughts invading your space from time to time. Thoughts from the enemy often sneak in when you least expect them to tempt you to entertain the thought even if it’s only for a brief moment in time. Today we will talk about how to guard your thoughts so that every thought, even for the briefest amount of time, will be pleasing to God. Continue reading Mental Ascent to Heavenly Bliss
What do you do when the world turns away and no longer wants to hear the messages from God through the indwelling Spirit? When this happens it will be a most difficult time, cutting deep within your heart, especially if it comes from old, trusted friends and family members. I believe we all know why this is happening if we have truly understood the days in which we are living. The Bible talks about this day when there will be a great falling away. Simply put, people no longer have time for God and the things of God. They no longer have time for deep prayer and meditation that can take hours at a time. They no longer have time to read their Bible or read the Spirit-filled messages from mature believers in Christ. They no longer have time to put the old life off and put the new life on in Christ through transformation. They no longer have time for the deep things of God, yet they have plenty of time to chase after every news article from the world or contemplate the latest conspiracy theory. If we are faithfully following Christ, then people will turn away. So, what do we do when the world turns away? Continue reading When the World Turns Away
If you haven’t noticed Canada is on fire and its smoke is invading the United States. If you haven’t noticed these viruses simply don’t go away but continue morphing into yet another plague. If you haven’t noticed lawlessness has gotten so bad that gangs smash and grab whatever they want with no hindrance from law enforcement. If you haven’t noticed corruption has gotten so bad it’s really difficult to discern who’s telling the truth. If you haven’t noticed what is now happening on the planet mirrors many of the plagues, woes, and wrath of God in the Book of Revelation. For example, the fourth bowl of God’s wrath seems strikingly familiar with what is happening now. The Bible says, “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory” (Revelation 16:8-9). It would be difficult to admit that we have not entered the Great Tribulation. I am convinced that God is leading me to help His children to survive the Great Tribulation. This will be the first of a series of articles on how to survive the Great Tribulation. Continue reading Help to Survive the Great Tribulation
