Living with Your Holy Resident

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”  (I Corinthians 3:16)

As believers in Christ, we all know this truth. We are the temple of God’s Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, for most, it hasn’t sunk in. It’s something they believe but have not acted upon. I can remember dating my wife and inviting her to my home for a visit, but things changed when she moved in and it became permanent. All of a sudden, we were doing things together all the time, which meant my behavior was front and center. Now, plans were made together and agreed upon in advance. Even trips to the grocery store took on a whole new dynamic, realizing that there was more than one kind of milk. It didn’t take long to realize that we had our own way of doing things. We also had different likes and dislikes. Although this joyously turned my whole world upside down, it was well worth the journey. In time we truly became one, and she will always tell you that she is my better half. Today, I would like to speak to you about another full-time resident. This one too must be invited in, to take up residence in your heart for the rest of your life.

Many people will walk the aisle of their church to publicly repent of their sins and ask for forgiveness. They will humbly ask that Jesus Christ will come into their lives to fulfill all of His glorious promises. They may even anticipate the filling of the Holy Spirit at some future date, without realizing that He is immediately available to every believer who seeks Him with his whole heart. The good news is your new Holy Resident will help you clean the place up, which will continue for the rest of your life. The moment He takes up residence, you are the Temple of God’s Spirit. He will be with you every moment of every day as He takes His rightful place upon the throne, in the throne room of your heart. What makes this relationship even more unique is that your Holy Resident not only knows your every action, but He knows your every thought. So, what is your response to all this? Yes, your little world will be gloriously turned upside down, but you will soon discover that it’s well worth the journey. As a preacher of the Gospel, I will give you a few biblical keys that will ensure a blessed relationship and a fulfilled life here on earth.

The first biblical key is to understand the role of the Holy Spirit, which I often refer to as the indwelling Spirit. Perhaps His most significant role is that of a Teacher. The Bible says, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26). In a world of blindness, lies, and half-truths, this is good news. When we submit ourselves to Christ through total dependence on Him, then the veil is removed, and we can see. “Once we were blind, but now we see.” We can see and understand all truth. As the Bible was written by men of God, they were moved by the Spirit giving it authority and sufficiency for all of life. Because the words of the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit, then He is the one that unlocks its true meaning. As the unbeliever reads the Bible there is a veil over his eyes. However, when a believer reads the Bible, the veil is removed and the words are properly interpreted by the indwelling Spirit. So, our primary textbook is the Bible brought to life by the indwelling Spirit. It’s as though the words come flying off the page with the power to convict. It’s as though the words are sent forth like a firebrand into our seeking hearts.

When I read the Bible, I take my time first putting it into its proper context, then rolling the verse (or verses) over and over again, asking the Spirit of God to give me its deeper meaning. Remembering that the Spirit uses the Bible for all of life, I begin to hide its Words in my heart through prayer and meditation, which in time also leads to memorization. As you put off the old life and put the new life in Christ you will be taught by the indwelling Spirit that His ways are much higher than our ways. This Holy Resident will bring to your memory those beautiful truths from the Bible that are so different from the world. Every encounter with the things of this world will no longer be a solo adventure but the Spirit will be with you, ready to open your eyes to the truth. Every confrontation with other people and their personalities will no longer be a solo encounter but the Spirit will be with you bringing to your memory how you should listen carefully and prayerfully, before responding.  The beautiful truth, which I have learned over the years, is the Spirit will give you the words to say, which is especially important while counseling others.

Hopefully, you can see thus far, the indwelling Spirit is with you all the time. The second biblical key is to not ignore or turn a deaf ear to the Spirit’s leading. If we do then we will be led down a path that we don’t want to go down. The Bible says, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30). The Holy Spirit is a perfect gentleman who will never force His will upon you. If you ignore His leading then he, sadly I might add, will step into the other room, and you will be completely on your own. You will be left on your own to experience the full brunt of the consequences of your bad or misguided decision. Don’t blame God. If you would have listened to the convictions coming from Him, you would have stopped what you were doing and started seeking His will in the matter. Believe me, if you ask for the Spirit’s direction and wait upon it, then you will get it. But honestly, dear children, it’s the waiting that you are not much interested in. Most would rather ask Social Media or the internet rather than waiting upon God to speak to them through His anointed Word that’s brought to life by the indwelling Spirit. In time you will learn how to discern the still small voice of the Spirit. The more you learn the Scripture, the greater your discernment will be in detecting the lies of the devil posing as an angel of light.

Finally, there are many more works of the Holy Spirit from the many Spiritual gifts, that are all but ignored by the modern church, to the occasional visions that are given, which never disagree with the Bible. However, I want to conclude with another very important role of the indwelling Spirit, that most don’t think about. The third biblical key is His job is to maintain the Temple for God’s Spirit. He takes care of the residence. The Bible says, “If any man defiles the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (I Corinthians 3:17). God’s temple is holy! Let that sink in. Remember, that God’s Spirit is always with you. If you run with the devil’s crowd subjecting your body (His temple) to things that will darken your soul and defile your body, then this will lead to destruction. It’s a proven fact that street drugs, mind-altering drugs, and many accepted pharmaceutical drugs will damage your mind and body.  It’s a known fact if you run with the devil’s crowd that they have a tremendous influence upon you, even if you think they don’t (see I Corinthians 15:33, ESV). Please dear children, just remember this one thing and you will do well. Remember, that the Spirit of God is with you every moment of every day. Welcome your Holy Resident and do everything with Him. This too is a blessed relationship. Amen

Please Join me in Prayer

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you, LORD, for sending us our Holy Resident to take His rightful place upon the throne room of our seeking hearts. Thank you, LORD, that no matter what happens in this world, we know that our Holy Resident will never leave us but will continue to teach us and lead us in the way we should go. We pray that you teach your beloved children how to discern the Spirit’s still small voice and His Holy nudges, so that He will not be grieved. We know to grieve the indwelling Spirit will not be beneficial for us, allowing us to face the full brunt or consequences of our bad decisions. We pray that you will encourage your children to prayerfully read and meditate upon the Holy Scriptures until they feel your conviction or a divinely inspired teaching moment.  How glorious that is to our souls. We pray that when this happens that they will hide this beautiful truth in their hearts and act upon it as you lead. We cannot imagine living one moment in this evil world without our Holy Resident. We pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).

What is Causing the Unimaginable Chaos?

We spoke briefly about the chaos affecting humanity on my latest News Brief, today we will look at what’s causing it to become the worse thing to ever fall upon humanity. Chaos engenders an image of things totally out of control, where stark raving madness and the walking dead barely scratch the surface of uncovering the complete picture. Law and order will be exchanged for complete lawlessness, not only in the streets but behind nearly every door. Love for one’s neighbors will be exchanged for explosive outrage doing the unimaginable, without a hint of remorse. Heated rhetoric will be exchanged for plotting demonically inspired retaliation beyond one’s own sensibilities. Sanity will be exchanged for bouts of insanity inflicting injury to others and to oneself. All of the psychological disorders known to self-righteous man will run rampant through all of humanity from the deepest pit of depression to the many crying bouts of anxiety. As more drugs are legalized to calm the masses the massive addiction doesn’t curb the tide of madness. Even the handing out of free money will not stop the unimaginable chaos. So, let’s follow God’s prophetic voice from ages past to understand what’s causing the chaos.

Right in the very beginning, God instituted worship by teaching His children to offer sacrifices to provide for their needs and even their deepest desires (See Genesis 4:3-4). Even in the days of old, it engendered a personal relationship with something larger than life. This was a beautiful dynamic that brought humanity to the schoolhouse of faith and trust in a Higher Power that not only provided but protected mankind from his worst fears. This understanding of a higher power spread to every corner of the globe. It was not long before every people group or civilization developed their own unique understanding of God to protect them from the unknown and to provide for their people. As other world religions sunk into mythologies that made room for other gods, they learned how to effectively manipulate their gods and control their people. The fallen world was growing increasingly chaotic. On the other hand, step by step a chosen people were brought ever closer to the real God of creation and His expectations of obedience to a higher Law; a Law that would bring forth order out of chaos (See Exodus 20). This law showed the true nature of God not only as a provider and protector but as a God of Love (See Deuteronomy 7:9).

As God’s chosen people grew in the knowledge of God’s holiness, they understood the value of the written word (Joshua 1:8) and its many prophetic announcements. These ancient prophecies demonstrated their separateness from the rest of humanity and God’s plan to make them great among the nations (See Isiah 60). They longed for the coming Messiah to fulfill their destiny. Unfortunately, when Jesus Christ, the Messiah, finally came they rejected Him and His message for all of humanity. After fifteen hundred years in the schoolhouse, they were not ready for graduation. They were not ready for the simple Gospel that would open the door to a new life in Christ for anyone in the world through faith alone (Galatians 2:16). How beautiful were the feet of those who spread the Good News (See Romans 10:15) beyond Palestinian to distant lands bringing forth order out of chaos and replacing hate with love? Although many in other world religions still hung onto their religious myths, the world, for the most part, was held back from total chaos because of their unwavering faith in their god. Christianity also demonstrated an unusually strong trust in God even during the darkest days of Christendom, which kept chaos from overtaking the world. This all changed in the nineteenth century.

For eighteen hundred years most of humanity among the world religions, including Christianity, held tightly to their religious dogma. It gave them purpose and continuity to their lives. It gave them structure to their daily lives in attempting to live up to the will of their God. It gave them a sense of order mostly understanding the difference between what was right and what was wrong. Although only a few reached the deeper life, truly understanding the significance of the transformed life, the overall trust in God kept chaos at bay. Although war continued and lawlessness remained a blight on civilization, chaos did not overtake the entire world as it has today.  So, what happened in the nineteenth century? What changed? New sciences and humanistic philosophies arrived on the scene allowing humanity to develop new structures for life; structures that no longer needed to align with Holy Scripture. A new order was presented for all of humanity to experiment with the new laws to govern their relationship with the creation and with one another. Man had finally come of age and he pridefully decided to ignore his parental guidance from an all-knowing God. He boldly stepped into the new world proclaiming that he alone could make decisions concerning his relationship with the world and how to solve all of his problems.

So, for over two hundred years mankind experimented with the new sciences, accepting some and rejecting others based on his own self-knowledge. Self had become the center of his universe. As he approached the new sciences of the big bang theory, the age of our world, or the universe, he could make his own decision if it was true. Was the world created in seven days (See Genesis 2:1-2), or was it seven years, or perhaps it was seven thousand years, or why not seven million years? The problem with this thinking is the order of the universe is no longer sealed in the pages of God’s Holy Word but is now dynamic being changed as new discoveries are made allowing man to make or change his decision. Nothing is concrete. He could also decide if he believed in evolution, perhaps not realizing if he did, then our creation by a perfect God could not be perfect if we evolved from a lower life form. What does that say about being created in the image of God (See Genesis 1:27)? There is no longer order or structure if man has an option to believe whatever he wants. Take these to any social media platform and see how many different opinions you get. When every man is free to believe whatever he wants, then it will affect his belief system in an all-knowing God. You can already begin to feel the rumbling of chaos.

As humanity moves further away from God and the order that was established for him through the Gospel, the more desperate he will become to find new truth to solve his problems. All the sciences and the teachings of psychology were created in a vacuum. They were created at a time when humanity began to reject the teachings of the Church and the Bible casting them into a raging sea of uncertainty as they sought new truth. They had forgotten about God’s bountiful love, His amazing peace, and the promise of being transformed into a new creation. They had forgotten the beautiful laws that showed them how to relate with their fellow man and with his created order. Humanity became ripe for Satan’s leading, leading them further and further away from God’s structure for their lives. As humanity moved further away from God and His absolute truth, they began to feel the pain of living life without God to solve their problems. Instead of repenting and seeking God’s way they turned to the world who promised humanity all the answers to their ever-increasing problems. In time they began to experience the horror of living life without God. As more problems flooded his soul, such as loneliness, anxiety, depression, along with a score of other problems, Satan sent forth his agents of psychology with a promise to fix all their problems. Most of us can see how this worked out for humanity. The rumblings of chaos began to grow even louder.

Humanity’s quest for knowledge to solve its many problems moved well beyond the sciences and the huminitic teachings of psychology to the internet and all that it had to offer their desperate souls. Artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithms offered a host of possibilities to wayward humanity in the search for truth. No longer satisfied with God’s Word and the teachings of the church the internet search became the new podium of truth. Instead of turning to God for answers they endlessly searched the internet to discover the so-called truth about all of life. From health-related issues to mental anguish and difficulties with personal relationships the search began with the hope of solving their many problems. From the best diet to unlocking one’s future with extensive DNA searches and the best exercise programs their endless research continued unabated. From watching the latest political drama unfold to uncovering the latest conspiracy theory the mind is suddenly on overdrive trying to assimilate all the new information. Then if that’s not enough to consume our time, all this information is downloaded onto the social media platforms, so that we can banner with others about their opinions as they too seek to discover even more information to solve their many problems. Being outside of God’s perfect, peaceful order, humanity’s stress levels are growing exponentially, and chaos is in the process of destroying everything we hold dear.

In conclusion, the Bible says, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (Ephesians 4:13-14). Because humanity turned away from God, they are now suffering the consequences brought about by the agents of Satan happy to oblige by giving us all the wrong information as we attempt to find a peaceful and fulfilled life in Christ. Let me implore you to seek only the counsel of God who has sent his beloved Son to give us a bountiful life with everything needed to overcome every problem that we will ever face (See II Peter 1-3-4). Dear children the chaos will continue, let us not be pulled into it by behaving like the heathen who are like rudderless boats being blown about by every new piece of information. Chaos is busting my eardrums, let’s return to the peace of God and His order and structure for our lives. Amen

Rediscover the Power of Classic Christianity (Video)

Rediscover the Power of Classic Christianity

To be a classic is to be like an original without all the defects caused by improper use and the passage of time. Classic Christianity is not any different. For two millenniums Christianity has endured the changes of self-righteous man and many defects caused by their unbelief. Christianity, as it was in the First Century, is no longer the same in the 21st Century. Christianity has grown old. It’s no longer relevant for the modern man. He feels as though he can no longer find comfort or direction from today’s lukewarm church to truly deliver him from his self-imposed bondage. So, he has reached out to the world of fallen humanity to seek answers to his ever-enlarging problems. There is not a day that goes by where we don’t see this in the modern world as man’s behavior is growing more irrational every day. The world offers him many choices from other world religions to the growing popularity of Satanism or the all-encompassing humanistic teachings of psychology that fits every world religion or nonreligion. As mankind sinks deeper and deeper into his sins and their consequences, he needs to rediscover classic Christianity with its unlimited power to overcome all of his problems. We present to you today a step-by-step rediscovery of classic Christianity to unlock the mystery from ages past.

The first step in rediscovering classic Christianity is to understand that God has not changed. The Bible says, “For I amthe LORD, I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). This is, in theological terms, the immutability of God. God has been the same for all of time. We hear the same thing in the New Testament in reference to Jesus Christ, that says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13.8). As the world changes, God and Jesus Christ remain the same. The way to a transformed life in Christ has not changed. Being filled with the Holy Spirit has not changed. The access to unlimited power has not changed. However, from the very beginning, Satan and the powers of darkness have been busy convincing the Church that it needs to change; that it needs to make adjustments to its beliefs and practices to reach the fallen world. There have been only a few periods of an attempted recovery to classical Christianity throughout the ages. Unfortunately, the Church has ignored these attempts causing her people to turn back to the fallen world for help and grow weaker in the process. It didn’t take long for the simple Gospel to turn into volumes of systematic theology. It didn’t take long to produce the seven sacraments and many rituals deemed necessary for worship. The more they produced the further they moved away from their all-powerful God. God does not change and neither has His glorious Gospel.

The second step is to understand and believe the simple Gospel. After that, you will enter into a life of discipleship. As Christians, we have all heard the old, old story of Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for our sins. Most have said, “sure I believe that” and then off they go on their merry way. They soon discover that their belief was simply rhetorical nonsense. The good news is that through our faith all of our sins, past, present, and further are completely removed making access to the Holy possible. Yes, we still need to repent remorsefully and recognize our sin as a trespass against a Holy God. We still need to agree to no longer commit the trespass again. We still need to ask God for forgiveness believing that we have already received it. Now we are ready to enter into a life of discipleship by putting off the old life, by stop doing or thinking what we discover to be wrong. That’s only one-half of our discipleship. We also need to put on our new life in Christ by doing or thinking those things we discover to be righteous in the eyes of the Lord. The good news is that God sends us the indwelling Spirit to help us to grow Spiritually. To ignore the Spirit by not following His direction will not only grieve the Spirit but stunt our Spiritual growth and our ability to enter the next step. It’s essential that we recognize the presence of the indwelling Spirit.

When you sincerely walk in discipleship every moment of every day by putting off the old life and putting on the new life in Christ then you will experience transformation in Christ. This transformation does not take a lifetime; it takes faith believing and receiving all that God wants to give you through the indwelling Spirit. You will receive Spiritual gifts with tremendous power to do the work of the ministry, all to the glory of God. God will give you unlimited power to stand against the powers of darkness to fulfill His mission on earth. The Bible says, “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20). Nothing shall be impossible unto you. Let that sink in for a minute. Nothing will be impossible!  So, how do we acquire this little faith to do the impossible? First things first. We must be a disciple having a personal relationship with the risen Lord. We must feel His presence. We must know that He is with us. If Christ is really with you, then you will know the seemingly impossible thing to do, as He leads you to do it. Christ’s presence with us is one of the deepest mysteries revealed to Christians of faith.

Now we are getting to the crux of the matter. How do we access this unlimited power to do what we think Jesus Christ wants us to do? Let’s join the Apostle Peter in doing the impossible. We all know the story of when he healed a lame man, who had been that way since birth. He probably did not know that this one healing would have such a tremendous impact upon the crowd including the religious leaders of that day. He probably did not know that it would add five thousand souls to the Church that day. On the other hand, I believe he did know that Christ gave him an opportunity to access that unlimited power to heal the man. Peter and John both looked intently upon the man that was lame, (as if they were waiting upon direction from the Lord), and then the Bible says, “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength” (Acts 3:6-7). Later in the text, Peter tells the crowd emphatically, that he did not heal the man (see verse 12). It was Jesus Christ of Nazareth who did the healing. This is an important lesson understood and known in Classic Christianity but has been lost through the ages. Peter finally learned this important lesson that he can’t, but Jesus Christ can. We can’t but He can. And if we don’t, He will. This is the great mystery in receiving unlimited power to do the impossible.

Much power is lost in modern Christianity by attempting to save the world by utilizing their own methods. The modern church is so weak that it’s turned to the fallen world for help. They no longer believe that Jesus Christ has the power today to deliver people from their many psychological struggles. They no longer believe that God has given them everything they need for life and godliness, so they rush to the world’s counselors and their prescription drugs to solve their problems. They no longer believe that Jesus Christ can transform people into a new creation growing them from one degree of glory to another. They no longer believe that God’s children can access this unlimited power to turn the world upside down, so they rush to their political pundits or favorite political party to do it. They no longer believe the truth, so they search the internet seeking new truth, even if it’s nothing more than the latest conspiracy theory. They no longer believe that they have access to unlimited power to overcome the powers of darkness and its legions of demons. Dear children, it’s time to return to classic Christianity having full access to God’s unlimited power. For one who has experienced Jesus Christ working His miracles through me in healing, miraculously causing food to appear, overcoming a demonic spirit, along with many other miracles, there is no greater joy than having Christ in my life and experiencing His amazing presence every moment of every day. What wonders awaits those seeking a deeper life in Christ. Rediscover the power of classic Christianity. Amen

Please Join me in Prayer …

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. Oh Lord, how marvelous are your ways. When our strength is all dried up and we feel we just can’t do anymore, then we see your greatest miracle. For when we turn our labor over to you then we see you working powerfully in and through us. As we completely trust in you, we feel that we are working well beyond our own ability and doing things that absolutely amaze us. We admit that strength and power must come directly from you. Hallelujah. Of course, the real miracle is realized when we learn how to completely let go and trust you to work through us. Help us not to run ahead of you or lag behind but keep in step with the indwelling Spirit for indeed it is your work that you have called us to. A marvelous work indeed. Help us to step out in faith when you lead, knowing that the strength and the ability will both come from you to accomplish the task. Oh Lord, please remind all of your children to always give you all the credit and all the glory. We pray this in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13).
