Commonality of the Lukewarm Church and Catastrophes

To use the lukewarm church and catastrophes in the same sentence unveils what most would like to escape, the Great Tribulation. There appears to be a commonality between the lukewarm church and the increase in catastrophes worldwide driving most to seek additional signs. For two thousand years prophets and seers have foretold the end of all things as we know it. Even the Bible is replete with detailed scenarios of the end time events spawning numerous interpretations most in rock solid cement. What if. What if the time has finally come. No matter what your interpretation, you feel compelled to do something. Going to a mountain top, sitting down and waiting for Christ to come is not an option. As world events get worse and the Church slips deeper into lukewarmness we can argue how close the Great Tribulation is or we can prepare to stand firm in the day in which we live.

If we say, don’t talk to me about the Tribulation, because I know that Christ is coming any minute now to rapture me, before it gets too bad. Moreover, we know our Bible says we are not destined for wrath. I would be the first one to agree, but can we talk back to God? Are we going to tell God that He is not permitted to pour out his wrath on an unrepentant world? On a world that’s worse, in many respects, than Sodom and Gomorrah. Well, the good news is we don’t need to talk back to God. We can allow His wrath to be poured out, because we are standing on His promise that His wrath will not touch us. The Bible says, “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Thessalonians 5:9). Therefore, if we see the pagan swept away in the flood of God’s divine wrath and we are left behind to strengthen what remains then we will thank our God. We thank Him that we have obtained salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, if we too are killed by some great catastrophe then we have the assurance that it was not caused by God’s wrath. No, it’s cause was the Providence of God. It is simply our time to die, our time to be raptured away into the glories of Heaven. Praise God.

Indeed, these are most amazing times when one home is consumed with a raging fire and the one next to it is left without a touch, not even the smell of smoke, or one person is swept away by flood waters and the other person by some great miracle was never harmed. We have seen this in every so called natural disaster to descend upon the planet. One will be taken in sudden death and the other one will be left completely unharmed. Both are reminiscent of the biblical account. The Bible says, “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left” (Matthew 24:40-41). We cannot explain how one can be taken and the other left no more than we can explain why one person dies at a very young age and the other lives beyond a hundred. The whole point that Christ makes, is we should be ready at any time to go and be with the Lord or be left in this world to endure more hardships or persecutions caused by an unbelieving world. He makes this very clear in the next verse that says, “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” (Matthew 24:42). We do not know what hour He comes for us, nor do we know what hour He will come in the clouds for everyone. At His coming some will have the great privilege to stay and build His Kingdom here on earth while others will be swept away into everlasting punishment.

Night is approaching for every man, when he cannot work. Let us work while it is still day. The Bible says, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:4-5). The meaning is the night of death, and of the grave, and suggesting His own death. The night of death is a time when nothing can be done. The Bible also says, “There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). While Jesus was alive, before His death on the Cross, He would do His great work. He was the light of the world. So, until Christ comes at the end of the age or at the end of our life, we need to be working, while its still day. While it is still light. While we are still alive. So, if the rapture, His coming in the clouds where every eye will see, never comes until after the Great Tribulation then so be it. Let us roll up our sleeves and get to work

We simply cannot go up to the mountain top, sit down and wait for His coming in the clouds. It so sad that so many in our day are doing that. They will spend all their time looking at the signs (sitting on the mountain top) and not doing the Kingdom work. They will spend all their time discussing their take on eschatology (sitting on the mountain top) and not doing the Kingdom work. Or they will spend all their time playing games, going to pot lucks, movies, surfing the net or posting on Social Media (sitting on the mountain top) and not doing the Kingdom work. The Kingdom work is hard, but we are all called to it. Not just a select few, but all of us who are saved and followers of Jesus Christ. Until Jesus Christ comes in the clouds at the end of the age or until he comes for you at the end of your life then we need to stay busy doing the Kingdom work. And there is much work to be done. Encouraging the faint hearted, strengthening the weak minded, and above all lighting a fire under the lukewarm church.

So, how do we light a fire under the lukewarm church? They say that most learning is caught and not taught. I sincerely believe there is truth in this statement. Especially, when I look at the life of Jesus Christ and His Holy Apostles. They all were perfect examples of living out the life that they were teaching. Yes, they modeled Christianity. The new life in Christ. So, do we really want to make a change in the lukewarm church then we first must make a change in our own lives. Are we really modeling the new life in Christ? Are we really on fire for Christ. Are we truly excited about this new life? Are we so excited that we can’t stop telling others about it? Are we truly growing from one degree of glory to another? Are we demonstrating all the fruits of the Spirit? Are we using our Spiritual Gifts to the glory of God? When we can answer yes to all these questions then we are lighting a fire under the lukewarm church. Dear children, let me implore you to come down from the mountain top, roll up your sleeves and start working in the Kingdom by demonstrating the new life in Christ.

So, what is the commonality between the increase in catastrophes and the lukewarm church? When the Christian churches are no longer viable in stopping the increase in lawlessness or every manner of perversion then it invites God to pour out His wrath upon an unrepentant world. There is a great deal of similarities between the trumpets of God’s judgments and the Bowels of His wrath with the increase in catastrophes. If this continues without true repentance from the lukewarm church then every follower of Christ in every country will be persecuted. Let me leave you with these words from God’s Word, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13). Friends, it’s time to raise our voices for truth and righteousness to be heard around the world and being unafraid to model our new life in Christ or suffer the consequences of being trodden underfoot by men.

Looking at the Signs or at Your Walk?

Stop looking at the signs and start looking at your walk. So many in today’s world are obsessed at looking at the signs. From viewing one YouTube video after another to listening to every new false prophet that comes along, the Christian community is being forced further into captivity by the prince of darkness. Signs are important otherwise Christ would not have given them. Signs are like signpost that give directions and alerts us when we are close to our destination. To concentrate only on the signs and not the many other things necessary to be a good and safe driver would not only be foolish, but could end in tragedy. Well, it’s the same way when it comes to concentrating on the signs of Christ’s Second Coming and not on the many things it takes to be faithful followers of Christ. Yes, many things. So many things that Jesus Christ gave us the indwelling Spirit to remind us of everything He said and taught. The Bible says, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit, when he the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…” (John 16:12-13a). So, stop looking constantly at the signs and pay attention to your driving. Stop obsessing on the signs of Christ’s return in Glory and let’s agree to spend more time in preparation for His arrival by listening to God through the Spirit. Without the Spirit, the Bible would not be discernible. It would be a nice history book and wise teachings from an ancient Teacher, but remiss of Spiritual power. The power necessary for spiritual growth and faithfulness to God.

Now, that I’ve got your attention let’s look briefly at some of the things we need to be concentrating. First, let’s get rid of all the old baggage that the enemy insists that you hang on to. The baggage the world says you can’t get rid of, no matter how hard you try, but what does God say? Remember, we are to listen to God. Not to the world and not to the enemy. The Bible, His Word, says that we, that is, believers in Christ, are made into a brand-new creation. Let’s read it together, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). Wow! That means that all the old baggage belongs to the old life, not the new. So, to hold onto that old baggage, which no longer exists, either shows your lack of faith or calls God a liar. Friends, to walk in this new life is true freedom. Freedom from all the old sins, bad behavior, emotional and psychological hang-ups, and yes even all your old bad habits. Believing this is your first step in spiritual growth. Trust me, if you don’t believe this you will never get to the second step. And that my friend, is exactly where the lukewarm church is presently in their unbelief.

For you, I think better, so let’s move on to the second step. Put off the old, and put on the new life in-Christ. Sounds like two things, but it’s only one. These things must be done simultaneously, at the same time. The Apostle Paul gives us some wonderful examples in Scripture. Let’s look at them together. The Bible says, “Wherefore putting away lying, [Put off the old life] speak every man truth with his neighbor [Put on the new life]: for we are members one of another” (Ephesians 4:25). And then again, the Bible says, “Let him that stole steal no more: [Put off the old life] but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth” [Put on the new life] (Ephesians 4:28). And again, the Bible says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, [Put off the old life] but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers [Put on the new life] (Ephesians 4:29). One last example, the Bible says, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: [Put off the old life] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” [Put on the new life] (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Now, like I said these are examples so let’s see if we can think of others. The point is when you stop an old bad behavior then replace it with a new good behavior. Yes, this works with your emotional and psychological hang-ups too. Most have to do with thinking and learned attitudes. For example, if I have always in the past allowed negative thinking to get me down to the point of being depressed, then I need to put that off, but at the same time I need to put on good positive thoughts along with prayer. Again, the Bible gives us some excellent things to put into our minds and think about. The Bible says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8). Trust me my friends, God gives us the power to control what we put into our minds. The world and the devil would like you to think differently.

So, you are already beginning to see it’s a full-time job being a Christian who wants to be prepared at Christ’s Second Coming.  So, are you ready for the third step? Service. Yes, I said service. It must be right in the beginning of our Christian pilgrimage. We must immediately start serving our new King, the Righteous King of glory, Jesus Christ. It’s so sad that the lukewarm church has never traveled this far. Sports and recreational events, potlucks and movies, along with many other social events would be hard pressed to qualify as truly serving the Lord, although they could. So how does God want us to serve Him. Along with the new life in-Christ comes immediately the Holy Spirit, our new Holy Resident. And when He comes, He does not come empty handed, but He comes bearing Gifts. Gifts of the Holy Spirit. I have taught many classes on how to know your Spiritual Gift and how to use it for God’s glory. I cannot overemphasize the importance of teaching all God’s children the use of their Spiritual Gifts for the health and wellbeing of the Church. And yes, we are the Church, which explains the weakness and worldliness of today’s churches. How valuable the Spiritual Gifts are in building up, encouraging, preaching, teaching, and admonishing one another in Christ. Not to mention the many other Spiritual Gifts to strengthen and grow God’s Holy Church. Therein is our true service to the Master.

There are other steps along the Way that we must all take, but these first steps are essential or you will never be ready to meet our Master coming in the clouds to collect His Beautiful Bride, the Church. This is how Christ is doing His part in preparing for that glorious Day, the Bible says, “Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25b – 27). Now, once you are being made ready and concentrating on the important things of our Christian pilgrimage then only take a quick glance at the signs knowing He’s at the very door where every eye will see His glorious coming. I pray that all reading this will be ready when He comes. I will leave you with these Words from the Master. The Bible says, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). Taking these initial steps, my friends, are God’s will for you, the Church. Amen

Are You Prepared for the World’s Greatest Disaster?

The world’s greatest disaster looms on the horizon like a grizzly bear awakening from his hibernation. It’s certain, it’s going to happen, we need to be ready. The time is short. Everything is pointing in that direction. The weather is getting more extreme producing more powerful and violent storms, earthquakes are increasing in number and severity, global epidemics are more plausible, the aggressiveness between competing ideologies is turning violent and the mad man in the East continues to threaten the United States homeland by launching a nuclear strike. The instability in the world today beckons for us to prepare. But how should we prepare? Preparing physically with the best laid plans for survival simply will not be enough to stand firm. It’s essential that we prepare not only physically, but emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. To do so will not only help us to survive a global disaster, but it will also help us to overcome the great deception, coming on the heels of a major disaster. Four Most Horrifying Words

What a glorious day that will be at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but for some it will not be so glorious. The unbelieving world will cower in their caves crying out to the rocks to fall upon them and hide them from the coming Lord and His wrath. (See Revelation 6:16-17). On the other hand, all those who claimed to believe in Christ will be awakened at an hour they did not expect and will rush out to meet the Lord with glad tidings in their heart thinking all is well. They all without exception had become drowsy and fell asleep, because the promise of His coming had been for a very long time. To this date its been nearly two thousand years since the promise was first given to His disciples. Perhaps the great missionary efforts had ceased and revivals had become a relic of the past replaced with conferences geared to a favorite doctrine. Even one on one evangelism was frowned upon my most for being too exclusive. It appears that the entire church drifted off to sleep and was only now awakened at the news of Christ’s return, which no doubt caused much panic among all to let their light shine in a very dark world as they all rushed to meet the bridegroom. Finishing the Race

Where is the joy and excitement we once had when we first came to know the Lord Jesus Christ? For many, they feel its been lost forever and whatever joy or excitement they do experience, it’s like a meteor lighting up the night sky for one joyous moment and then disappearing. So how do we keep that joy and excitement alive, especially in our older age when we are fraught with illnesses, physical limitations and unusual maladies? How do we keep it alive when we are facing various trials and tribulations? The simple answer, which begs for an explanation, is get back in the race. Unfortunately, many well many Christians are still sitting on the sidelines allowing Christianity to become little more than a good habit with poor results. So how do we leave this quagmire of constant learning without meaningful application; how do we return to the joy of our salvation where every day is a new day in the Lord filled with unbelievable excitement? Get back in the race. The Bible says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
