The Immortal Message of Easter

On Easter morn, we are drawn back to the message of the Cross that all-encompassing will of God. We are catapulted beyond the simple historical message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to the infinite heights of God’s will for our life in Christ Jesus. If we only see the historical event steeped in tradition then we have missed the message. In the Apostle Paul’s farewell message to the Ephesian elders he declared, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). And the starting place in this wonderful journey in understanding the whole will of God is by following the admonition of Christ to pick up our cross and follow Him. The Bible says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). To pick up the cross means death. It simply cannot mean anything else. It is a conscious decision to follow Christ in His death by dying to self. As we enter the dark night of our soul we discover that everything of the old sin nature must die. Every vestige of pride must be nailed to the cross. Every glimmer of self-will must die with Christ. Through faith in Christ our death to self becomes a reality. Step by step we are able to put off the old life.

The good news is we are no longer held in bondage to the old life. Old sins are forgiven by the precious blood of the Lamb. As Christ hung on the Cross of Calvary all our sins, past, present and future have been laid on Him removing that eternal barrier between us and a holy God. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). Through faith in Christ all our sins are forgiven and its power broken. Satan was soundly defeated at the Cross and no longer has power over those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Only by following Christ in His death on the Cross can this power of sin and the devil be broken forever in the life of the believer. Don’t let another Easter pass you by without making a conscious decision to pick up your cross daily and follow Him. Don’t fear death to self, because on the other side there is real life in Christ. Dying to self and putting off the old life is only the first part of the journey. We must continue to understand the full will of God.

Christians from around the world will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, because without it we are still trapped in our sin, in bondage to the old life, and resting under the power of Satan. On that glorious Easter morn as the rock was rolled back and Christ rose from the dead a new and living way was opened to all those who would now put their faith in Him. How magnificent is this new life in Christ is beyond our finite comprehension? For those who have journeyed deep into the new life in Christ will confirm that every day becomes more glorious. Unfortunately, many have not journeyed much further than the door and have rested contently on the milk of God’s Word. As mere infants, they delight in retelling the same old stories over and over again believing somehow that they alone will bring forth spiritual fruit and a deeper life in Christ. They pass over the commands of God as mere suggestions or only relevant for some future dispensation. They pass over the gifts of the Spirit as if they only appeared in the first century. Tragically many Christians never really experience the new life in Christ thus celebrating the resurrection as mere tradition reenacting its historical event.

He is risen! Christ has risen from the dead! In faith, we follow Christ in His resurrection putting off the old life by dying to self and putting on the new life by becoming obedient to His commands. Let’s be clear commands are not works. We have been saved by faith and all our good works will not get us one inch closer to heaven or a deeper life in Christ. On the other hand, the commands of God teach us how to live this new life in Him. Through our faith in Christ we have already been made into a new creation. The old has gone, behold all things are new. The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). When we put off the old life then we are empty and ready for the Master’s use. Self and tradition cannot put on the new life, but only Christ through His wonderful commands demonstrating the will of God in us. Do you want to grow spiritually from one degree of glory to another? Do you want that deeper life in Christ? Then be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and allow Him to lead you step by step to become obedient to the whole counsel of God through His holy commands written on your heart. As you celebrate the resurrection this Easter morn let me encourage you to leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity. How marvelous to be in Christ growing into a deeper relationship with Him. Thank you Lord for your death and resurrection all praise honor and glory to your Name. Thank you Lord for our new life in you. Praise God.

What’s Impeding Your Faith?

The Bible says, “Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth (Luke 18:8b).” The answer is not a lot for most in the later days will allow many things to impede their faith. Although there will be a faithful remnant, I am sure that their faith will be mocked by the world. It will seem inconsistent with reason and against all the established norms of a pagan world. Unlike the faithless who had long given up their faith, they will continue to cry out day and night for God to vindicate them by righteously judging their oppressors. They will continue to cry out asking God to fulfill all His promises, especially the one that does not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can handle (See I Corinthians 10:13). Over the course of time they have learned well the things that impede their faith, being careful to resist them at every point. So, what are these things that impede our faith?

Perhaps the biggest thing to impede our faith is listening to, believing in, and appropriating the world’s wisdom into our life. Clearly, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. So, to chase after the knowledge in the world puts you on a very slippery slope. Of course, we are not talking about all knowledge, but the knowledge that pertains to life, such as, godly communication, instructions concerning our interpersonal relationships, and specific instructions concerning our spousal relationship. It gives knowledge to parents on how to raise their children in the Lord and their financial responsibility to one’s family. It gives lessons on spiritual growth and the use of our spiritual gifts. It gives directives concerning our relationship to both the church and the government. It also gives timeless knowledge on how to care for our own body by learning how to deal with emotional and psychological problems, along with good eating habits, exercise, and sleep. There is endless knowledge from God’s Holy Word that gives us everything we need for living a godly life. However, if we refuse to follow God’s direction then we are inclined to follow a mixed bag of knowledge from the world and from our self.

This assimilated information moves us further away from God’s divine plan for our life, thus impeding our faith, and putting us on the downward path toward death and destruction. Our faith in God will cause us to seek out His knowledge alone, on how to live out life pleasing to Him. A life full of spiritual energy to become all that God wants us to be in this life. A life full of indescribable joy that has learned the power of forgiveness, of turning the other cheek, and going the extra mile with others. A healthy life both mentally and physically that has learned from God how to deal immediately with grief, loneness, guilt, depression, anxiety, and many other problems, not by using psychiatric drugs or receiving the world’s counsel, but by following the Wonderful Counselor and His methods that have worked for thousands of years before psychology had ever arrived on the scene. The more we follow the Knowledge of God by putting it into our lives the stronger our faith grows and the more we grow spiritually from one degree of glory to another. Friends, please don’t follow your self-knowledge and the world’s knowledge, especially when it disagrees with God’s knowledge, which is His divine plan for your life.

The second thing that will impede our faith is giving up, which is demonstrated by our lack of prayer and the reading of God’s Word – the Bible. It is so sad that so many just go through the motions of being a faithful Christian. They may pray, but not from the heart believing that God is actually listening. They don’t pray believing if it’s God’s will then the prayer will be answered. They may even read the Bible, but they get nothing out of it or what they do get comes from their own self-consciousness and not from God or His Holy Spirit. They simply give up trying to become all that God wants them to be in this life. So, many of them chase after the world’s entertainment, sports, hobbies, and other social activities to fill up the void in their life caused by not following God as they should. The faithful Christian prays all the time believing in his heart that God is not only listening, but also giving him direction through the indwelling Holy Spirit. We must not give up. To give up impedes our faith, stops our spiritual growth, and separates us from all the joy of being a new creation in Christ.

The third thing that impedes our faith is not believing that God will deliver us from our oppressors. These I call the silent Christians. They go around walking on egg shells being careful to never rock the boat. They go out of their way to act like others in the world so they can be accepted and not mocked or ridiculed. Refusing to step out on faith weakens our faith, which in time will impede our faith. Although it is clear from Scripture that God will vindicate us, many have taken the low path and decided not to trust God to deliver them from those who may cause them harm. This vindication from God could come at the end of our life. We may not even get to see it, but it will come. It may not be soon, but it will come quickly often times when we least expect it. The Bible says, “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth” (Luke 18:7-8)? The dividing line has already been drawn between the liberal and the conservative. It has already been drawn between the Christian who decides to follow all of God’s knowledge in the Bible alone and for those who have decided to assimilate it with the world’s knowledge. The later proudly proclaims that God simply did not give us all the information needed for the 21st Century and it’s up to humanity to fill in the blanks. Yet, they are mistaken, because the knowledge is there. It just needs to be re-discovered and put into the life of the believer. Christians who do not want to impede their faith must step out on faith by proclaiming the truth to everyone who spouts the world’s knowledge and spurns the knowledge of God. To do so will restore our faith.

The fourth thing that impedes our faith is listening to the lies of the enemy. He will tell you that you are just wasting your time in prayer. Better just go so see a Doctor or a Psychiatrist. Clearly, there is a time to see a Doctor to address our physical concerns, but even that does not limit our need for prayer. For I have seen many miracles where even the Doctors admitted to observing a real miracle in their patients. The enemy also lies about your worth before God. As a new person in Christ you are worth everything to Him, but the enemy will whisper in your ear that you are worthless by reminding you of the things you did in your past. The enemy will tell you, “How could God forgive someone like you?” He may even go so far as to say that you are not even saved. To listen to the lies of the enemy will impede your faith. To listen to God alone will increase your faith allowing you to stand firm against the enemy in all of his malicious attacks.

Will Christ find faith upon the earth when He returns in glory? The good news is that Christ will find a very strong faith among the faithful remnant, but He will find none among many who claim to be Christian. Let me encourage you dear friends to rediscover all the treasures in the Bible and see for yourself that God has indeed given us everything we need for life and godliness. In fact, the Bible says so, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (II Peter 1:3). Amen. The Bible never mixes words. If it says all things that pertain to life and godliness, then that is exactly what it means. So, please dear friend get out your Bibles, some of you may need to dust them off, and start to read day and night if necessary until you come to a deeper understanding of this knowledge that will strengthen your faith and prepare you for the days ahead.

Final Word to Christians- Part I (Video)

In the dark days ahead receiving godly wisdom on how to stand firm during the Great Tribulation will be nonexistent. This video series remedies that problem by passing on vital information now, as our legacy to the coming generation, but more importantly to those living now, who are currently being swept away by the deception of our age. Please share with others.

The Sword of the Spirit

Today’s article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The next piece of armor to be put on by the Christian soldier is the sword of the Spirit. This is the weapon that our Lord and Savior used against the devil in His wilderness temptations. Notice that the devil was the one who first quoted Old Testament scripture, which was then countered by Christ with another scripture. When Jesus Christ quoted scripture He shed light on the devil’s misinterpretation of God’s Word by putting it into its proper context. As we fast approach the end of days, many are coming out from the church, no longer resting under its authority and guidance for scriptural interpretation, which leaves many to interpret scripture as they feel led. The problem is who’s doing the leading, is it the Holy Spirit of God who leads us into all truth or is it the devil disguising himself as an angel of light? Continue reading The Sword of the Spirit

The Belt of Truth

This article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The belt of truth is the first piece of armor to put on as we prepare to stand firm against the wiles of the devil; it’s what holds everything in place. The belt of truth is the absolute truth that’s given to us in the Christian Bible. Jesus Christ said that He is the Truth and often times emphasized that he was telling the truth. He also said that the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth. The belt of truth is absolutely essential for standing firm against the father of lies. The deceptive lies of the devil have sent many to counseling centers and their local pharmacy to seek a remedy for their problems. As we shall see, putting on the belt of truth, that is bringing God’s truth to bear, will bring complete psychological and emotional healing to the Christian soldier.
