The Sins of the Mind

As God’s children, we must recognize the sins of the mind, so we can overcome them. Most every true believer in Christ recognizes the outward sins of what we do and what we say. However, very few recognize the sins of the mind, which encompasses every thought and every imagination. Yes, we will be held accountable for every unrighteous thought and every vain imagination not dealt with properly. Simply put, they must be cast out of our minds immediately, less than a nanosecond. This will take a lot of hard work observing every thought or imagination, deciding instantly if it’s evil, then successfully casting it out, if necessary, again and again. In such cases the Christian may well suffer intense persecution that could lead to a ghastly death. Throughout Christian History up to the present day Christians have stood firmly in the face of their persecutors making the good confession and committing their life to Jesus. I have always taken comfort in the words of Jesus who said, “But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak” (Matthew 10:19), which shows me that Christ is right there with me going through the same sufferings.
