Who’s Telling the Truth?

The Bible says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). This has been the problem since the beginning of time. When temptation and sin entered the world, thanks to Satan, mankind as a whole has not agreed with their God and have not generally agreed with one another. This division between man and his God was caused when the truth was questioned by the incitement of a lie, “Did God say” (see Genesis 3:1). It was not long thereafter that man was telling his own lies driving a deeper wedge between groups of people and the family unit. In time, these lies spawned completely different notions as to who God is, how we as a man came to be, the meaning of life, and our place in the universe. Although Jesus Christ came to set the captives free by giving them the truth about who we are and our original relationship with God, fallen humanity had already been questioning the validity of truth seen so clearly in Pilate’s response to Jesus, “What is Truth” (See John 18:38). I don’t think Pilate was mocking Jesus but simply stating an accepted norm that believed it was impossible to actually know the truth. Why was that so difficult then and now will be the topic of our study today, especially important with what’s currently going on in the world.

For many years in this country witnesses were sworn in by promising to, “tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” This has become a bedrock of our legal system trusting that witnesses would set the record straight making it possible to deliver the correct judgment. However, we have grown increasingly more like Ancient Rome where one can say, “Who’s telling the truth?” Or “What is truth.” So, what’s making this so difficult in our day? The simplistic answer, which we will give further details, is that some truths and hearsay have been uniquely woven into the lie to make it more palatable or acceptable. In essence, they have created the half-truth, which is nothing less than a bald-faced lie. This, of course, has been Satan’s design from the beginning, knowing full well that lies will divide the human race making it far easier to conquer. The Bible calls this corrupt communication. It’s way beyond just vulgarity and filthiness, which also divides, to corrupt communication filled with damaging lies and half-truths intended to divide and destroy their fellow man (See Ephesians 4:29). This is exactly what we see in today’s world, lies dressed up with half-truths and hearsay to destroy the other side.

The other downside to this corrupt communication is that it grieves the Holy Spirit of God, which is the same Spirit that dwells in the heart of every true believer in Christ (See Ephesians 4:30). This is a great barometer of the Church’s true condition before a Holy God. If the indwelling Spirit is grieved (or deeply saddened) in an individual, then it can cause tremendous consequences allowing the person to slip into an array of emotional and psychological problems. It can cloud their thinking by actually calling bad, good and calling good, bad. We have seen this just recently where churches were divided over the acceptance of homosexuality and the so-called rights of the abortionist. This saddened Spirit can also allow people to see prophecies and interpretations of Holy Scriptures that are completely wrong causing great divisions among God’s beloved children. These divisions are not helping our united witness to a dying world nor is it helping us to stand firm against an evil world. Half-truths and hearsays are bald-faced lies causing people to divide, by rising up to destroy one another, which is giving the devil his due. Furthermore, in our divisions, nothing is being accomplished. How sad!

This corrupt communication has also filled the airwaves, the news media, and social media intoxicating the public. I say “intoxicating” because it’s like a drug or alcohol causing most people to keep coming back for more and more of the same thing. It’s like they can’t get enough of the lies and counter lies bashing the other side. It fires the spirit of retaliation unwilling to even talk to the other side or to look deeper into what they believe. It also finds great comfort and self-worth in finding others in their little echo chamber that agrees with them. It even emboldens and magnifies their pride when they listen to the so-called experts on the national news sites seemingly agreeing with their position. And the divide grows wider and wider every day! “What is truth?” It’s becoming more indiscernible every day. Unfortunately, it’s being peddled by the News Media and Social Media because they want your business. They want your money! They can care less if they are speaking the truth or speaking a lie. Simply put they are giving you exactly what they think you want. It works that way on both advertisements and news reporting or things that you see on your social media newsfeeds. We must no longer allow them to spread their lies through us. We must repent of our corrupt communication thus allowing the indwelling Spirit to once again rejoice in our hearts and continue to grow us from one degree of glory to another.

So, who’s telling the truth? The only one telling the truth is the Spirit if we have ears to hear. So, how do we have ears to hear? We begin by removing all of our preconceptions. You take all those childhood beliefs from politics to eschatology, from so-called proven science to psychology, and everything in between and ask God to bring forth His truth through the indwelling Spirit. Believe me, this will be the most humbling experience; wiping your heart and mind clean and allowing God to teach you His truth. When we do, we will begin to see the lies of the devil dressed up in half-truths and hearsay. When we do, we will see His truth confirmed again and again in the tremendous joy of the Spirit that’s no longer grieved. When we do, we will see how the lies blinded us from so many beautiful truths in His Word, the Bible. Until fallen humanity returns to God and His truth, they will be quiet incapable of really seeing the truth. They will be like Pontius Pilate, who said, “What is truth?” Or what we would say today, “Who’s telling the truth?” Yes, it is a good thing to turn off your electronic devices, shut your mouth, and listen to the indwelling Spirit to help us to only see the truth and nothing but the truth. Amen

His Woe is Coming Quickly!

Woe, woe, woe is a constant refrain that we hear in the last book of the Bible. When we read it, we think of God saying, “this is it!” Or saying, “this is the last straw for you have just passed over the proverbial red line.” This happened once before in biblical history when God raised His prophets of old to speak to the nation of Israel. God had warned His children for years that they had not kept His commandments, that they had followed after the disgusting immorality of their age. They had so integrated the world around them into their religious traditions and civic life, that they could no longer see their unrighteousness as filthy rags. Clearly, their sin had blinded them to their true condition before a Holy God. The Bible says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20)! They had become so blind that they convinced themselves that they were correct in their beliefs. They were so convinced that their bad behavior was good, even in the eyes of God, that they would come out from among those who thought otherwise and fight against them with harsh words. They were not far from stoning the prophets.

Ancient Israel is not much unlike the Western World and especially the United States. When we condone legalized abortion, homosexuality, the transgender, and every other perverted lifestyle then we are not unlike Ancient Israel that called bad, good. When we condone the psychobabble being taught in our churches and schools along with the free flow of psychiatric drugs that’s causing untold problems or the legalization of marijuana then we are not unlike Ancient Israel that called darkness, light. When we condone the teaching of other world religions, humanistic philosophies, myths, and demonic incantations in the public square then we are not unlike Ancient Israel that called bitter, sweet. Moreover, this unholy exchange has required Christians to undergo psychological testing for employment, psychological counseling if they trespass one of their civil laws, and even required to take certain psychological drugs if deemed necessary by the doctors and enforced by the judges. This unholy exchange has emptied our churches and created a whole new atheistic subculture of people trusting in the works of their own hands and denying the existence of God. This unholy exchange has opened Pandora’s box filled with every familiar spirit of the New Age seduction. We are not too unlike Ancient Israel.

So, what did God do with the nation of Israel? He sent them into captivity. He allowed the kings from the East, namely Babylon, along the Euphrates River in present-day Iraq, to tear down their walls, overcome their strong military, and carry off their survivors into a long and harsh captivity. This was the outcome of the woe spoken by the prophets and specifically the prophet Isaiah. Throughout biblical history, God has used other pagan nations to chastise His people for their unholy exchange. If we look at the second woe in the book of Revelation, this has not changed. God can and does use other nations to chastise His people when they stray from Him or cross the proverbial red line. Read carefully the book of Revelation concerning the second woe (See Revelation 9:12-21, and my book “Final Warning,” that goes into greater detail). Yes, I believe there is that proverbial red line and we as a nation, the United States of America, have passed it. What’s left is the woe, the righteous judgment of God to turn His people back to the light and out of the darkness. I don’t believe that I am alone to see the “handwriting on the wall.” Thanks to our interference in the Middle East for many years, we may now have most countries in the area hating us worse than they hate one another.

We may have cleaned out ISIS, the radical element of Islam but we have left intact a coalition of nations now strategizing how to expel all foreign troops from their lands. How far this collaboration will go in uniting against what they see as the “great Satan” (the United States of America) is not yet known. We do know, however, that Iran has projected a tremendous influence on many of the countries and groups of people in the region spreading their undying hatred for the West and specifically the United States. We should not underestimate the hatred they have for America that’s gone on for more than forty years, whom they see as both imperialistic and greedy. Make no mistake, thousands upon thousands have already been killed by the Muslim hordes from the East since its conception. If this hatred reaches further into our homeland as did the attacks of 911, then I pray that we as a nation will repent of our gross immorality and turn back to God before we experience the full extent of the third woe, which will be the unveiling of the Antichrist with all of his power to subject everyone to him. This subjection will begin with increased surveillance to seek out the terrorist amongst us. It seems like the handwriting is already on the proverbial wall. It’s just a matter of time if this country does not sincerely repent from their many years of unrighteousness.

Dear Christian, we cannot put our trust in our leader to protect us from God’s woe! Nor can we put our trust in the previous administration that attempted to buy them off. We may happily enjoy all that our current leader is doing to protect us, from building walls to increasing the military, even a space force, to new weapons, and his powerful rhetoric spoken against our enemies. We can rally around him by supporting him with our gifts and time, but nothing will stop the hand of God to render His righteous judgment upon a lawless nation. In comparison to the United States and our allies, Iran and its axis of evil seem small and insignificant. However, we as a nation would not be prepared to witness the daily terrorist attacks on our homeland. They may claim that it will only be military installations, but that could change very quickly. Nothing will stay the hand of God but true unconditional repentance. We must cleanse our churches of psychology and only teach God’s truth. We must outlaw abortion and help mothers to raise their children. We must outlaw all forms of greed and stop robbing the poor. We must outlaw homosexuality and all other forms of sexual perversion and teach godly counsel in building God-honoring relationships. We must outlaw all movies, music, and books that teach and condone lawlessness. We must turn back to the only true God while there is still time. His woe is coming quickly, lest we repent!

As we have seen, God can and does use other nations, especially pagan nations, to judge His people. It has historical and biblical precedents. Although the Middle East is primarily Muslim, which we would consider pagan, there are thousands upon thousands of Christians, our brothers and sisters, spread throughout the region. Although we need to repent and stand firm against any traditions or laws that would weaken our faith or trust in God alone, we must also pray for our brothers and sisters in every country, including the Middle East, to stand firm against their, often pagan or tyrannical, leadership by also maintaining their faith in God alone.  If we as believers in Christ truly repent, we will not only be setting an example for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East and around the world, we may also stay the hand of God. If we don’t repent, then His woe is coming quickly upon this nation! God help us!

The Fulfillment of Future Shock (Video)

In today’s world, the younger generation sees things as normal, the older generation sees things as the new normal, and the faithful remnant sees it as the fulfillment of future shock. The Fulfillment of Future Shock

In today’s world, the younger generation sees things as normal, the older generation sees things as the new normal, and the faithful remnant sees it as the fulfillment of future shock. This is a day when time is siphoned off by the evil world and the powers of darkness. Some say, “Where has the time gone” where others proclaim that “time appears to be moving faster.” All of this is adding to the epidemic of stress in the world, where many cry out saying, there’s just not enough time to get everything done. Of course, the side effects of all this stress is unproductive people in the workplace and failed relationships because people feel overwhelmed. Most feel as though their growing responsibilities in life are more than what they can handle. We must learn to redeem the time, to “buy back” the time stolen from us by Satan and his host of evil.

Don’t think for a moment that all this technology has helped us to redeem the time. In fact, I will prove just the opposite. It’s all an illusion orchestrated by the devil to make you think that you have more free time. In reality, we don’t. Whatever free time you thought you had gained is now spent doing things that are not beneficial to your spiritual growth. This free time is not drawing you any closer to the Lord, along with all the peace and joy that comes with a closer walk with Him. On the contrary, more stolen time is now spent on repairing and upgrading our mechanical and electronic devices. More time is spent on the devices that promises us a world of fantastic adventures through their many apps and programs. More time is spent conversing with faceless people from every point in the known world covering every conceivable topic. More time is spent walking in unrighteousness doing things that in former years would shock your sensibilities.

You might protest and tell me how much free time you now have since the technological revolution. Then I will point out to you, that although many more hours were spent washing clothes and hanging them out to dry, I still have fond memories of my mother singing praises to the Lord and drawing ever closer to Him in prayer and meditation while doing her work. Let me add that this is rather difficult to do when we are tied to our modern devices. There are many more examples, remembered by the older generation, such as cooking large family meals where we took time to all sit around the same table and talk to one another face to face. We have memories of sitting around the fireplace or on the large porch together listening to tales larger than life, and memories of how we loved and encouraged one another. Perhaps one of my fondest memories was praying together as a family and spending the time reading from God’s Holy Scriptures. So, you still think Satan and the powers of darkness have not stolen our time by promising us more free time for just embracing his new technologies?

So, how do we redeem the time that’s been stolen from us? The Bible says, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). What I love so much about the Bible is it candidly speaks the truth in simple language that anyone with eyes to see can understand. We redeem the time stolen from us by walking circumspectly in wisdom, not as fools. The fool is the one who says in his heart, “there is no God.” He spends the majority of his time trying to prove it by saying we have evolved, that we came from primordial slime after the Big Bang and that we must answer all of our own problems through the study of psychology. He spends much of his time on the advancement of technology and AI research to look beyond what he sees as the limitations of religion. He sees his future as the full integration of the technological and the biological to make the perfect person free from the slavery of religion. Probably not too unlike the Borg of science fiction.

Scripture doesn’t stop there; it says to walk circumspectly in wisdom in order to redeem the time stolen from us. The short interpretation is to make every face to face encounter count for something by helping others to see the truth. We do this in wisdom by allowing God’s beautiful truth to flow through us in both our speech and in our actions. When we do, we soon discover that the real power is in the Spirit of God and not in the devil, the powers of darkness, or his advancing technologies. The real power created the world in seven days. The real power raises the dead and creates new people out of sinners. Do you really think that technology will follow us to heaven? Do you think we will have any need for our laptop or cellphone? Here is the bottom line, if you want an eternal life in heaven where there is no need for technology then why do we crave it so much now?

The answer is clear when we perceive that Satan wants to rob you of your time. So, how do we redeem it? We make every moment count through our walk but also by redeeming those moments alone with Christ our Lord, where time seems to stop. You can’t do this while you’re on the computer or a cellphone. You can’t do this while reading the latest squabble on the News or on Social Media. You can’t do this when you allow your mind to be filled with the latest nonsense coming out the world orchestrated by Satan. We must find those quiet moments to be alone with Christ in meditation upon His anointed Word, through selfless prayer and praise. We find these quiet moments from contemplating the beauty of His creation by gazing intently upon gorgeous scenery of mountains, rivers, and great forest. We find these quiet moments by enjoying His handiwork in beautiful plants and flowers, and His ability to create such amazing wildlife. Capture the moment. Redeem the time. When you do, it will be like heavenly music to your ears. To do so my friends will be only a small foretaste of things to come, heavenly bliss at its best. Redeem the time and you will find the peace and joy that Christ promised to His followers. Amen
