Stand With Christ, Not Politicians

How do we stand with Christ and not stand with politicians? All the Apostles, prophets, and ministers of old taught us how to stand with Christ. None of them taught us how to stand with their national leaders and politicians other than to simply pray for them. Pray we must. Pray specifically that they will follow the law of God, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Also, pray that we will have an open door to share the eternal Gospel with them. We were taught to pray that they would rule righteously so that we, as God’s children could live in peace. We were taught to stand with Christ contrary to what our rulers did or didn’t do. Are we truly standing with Christ today? This is a question that should reach deep into the heart of every professed believer in Christ. This is a question that will haunt every believer who is sitting on the fence trying to stand with their national leaders and Jesus Christ at the same time. This is a question that will drive a deep wedge between true believers and those who are pretending to stand with Christ alone. This is a question that will separate the flock. This is a question that will eventually expose the wolf who has entered God’s vineyard. So, let us ask the question, “Are you truly standing with Christ alone?” Continue reading Stand With Christ, Not Politicians

Hope in Our Darkest Hour

What an amazingly beautiful three years it had been as the divine Son of God walked with His disciples and followers. They had all been filled with hope beyond their wildest imagination. They received more than just a glimpse of the new life in Christ as they observed Jesus overcoming the many obstacles from both the religious community and the power structures of decadent Rome.  From the many healings to the casting out of demons, and the many other miracles it brought forth an amazing hope for humanity in their darkest hour. But now things were different as they huddled together in the upper room to escape the prying eyes of the cruelest power on earth. Whatever happened to the hope that would deliver them from their cesspool of misery, long before they would classify this as depression and anxiety? All of Christ’s most ardent followers shared the same memories of a new hope for humanity who embraced the power of love and forgiveness. Somehow the light from within was still shining brightly even in the dark confines of their new sanctuary. Continue reading Hope in Our Darkest Hour

The Immortal Message of Easter

On Easter morn, we are drawn back to the message of the Cross that all-encompassing will of God. We are catapulted beyond the simple historical message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to the infinite heights of God’s will for our life in Christ Jesus. If we only see the historical event steeped in tradition then we have missed the message. In the Apostle Paul’s farewell message to the Ephesian elders he declared, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). And the starting place in this wonderful journey in understanding the whole will of God is by following the admonition of Christ to pick up our cross and follow Him. The Bible says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). To pick up the cross means death. It simply cannot mean anything else. It is a conscious decision to follow Christ in His death by dying to self. As we enter the dark night of our soul we discover that everything of the old sin nature must die. Every vestige of pride must be nailed to the cross. Every glimmer of self-will must die with Christ. Through faith in Christ our death to self becomes a reality. Step by step we are able to put off the old life. Continue reading The Immortal Message of Easter
