Shelter in Place an Enigma in Disguise

With all the evil things in the world today, we hear a lot about “shelter in place.” Every time there’s a mass shooting or a disaster we usually hear this refrain and we all know what to do. Don’t move from the area, take cover, and remain silent. We are not meant to fight back, but hide. For many, if not most, it’s the loneliest time in their life. You are left completely alone with your fears, your anxiety and the unknown. The dark daunting unknown. Almost anything these days could cause us to shelter in place, from mass shootings to natural disasters; and, from martial law to a nuclear attack as we hear it over the loud speakers or on emergency radios. Yet, this is an enigma in disguise, because where is the real shelter? You are hiding, hunkered down, behind an unlocked door or in your home, but where is the real shelter? Where is the solace, or the comfort that everything is ok? For those in the world there is no real shelter. Shelter in place is an enigma, but for the believers it should be different. Let me show you how. Continue reading Shelter in Place an Enigma in Disguise

Four Most Horrifying Words

What a glorious day that will be at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but for some it will not be so glorious. The unbelieving world will cower in their caves crying out to the rocks to fall upon them and hide them from the coming Lord and His wrath. (See Revelation 6:16-17). On the other hand, all those who claimed to believe in Christ will be awakened at an hour they did not expect and will rush out to meet the Lord with glad tidings in their heart thinking all is well. They all without exception had become drowsy and fell asleep, because the promise of His coming had been for a very long time. To this date its been nearly two thousand years since the promise was first given to His disciples. Perhaps the great missionary efforts had ceased and revivals had become a relic of the past replaced with conferences geared to a favorite doctrine. Even one on one evangelism was frowned upon my most for being too exclusive. It appears that the entire church drifted off to sleep and was only now awakened at the news of Christ’s return, which no doubt caused much panic among all to let their light shine in a very dark world as they all rushed to meet the bridegroom. Formidable Voice to a Divided World

Should there be unity among all believers? This question has captivated the heart of man since the time of Christ. The Catholic church still embraces this notion of unity, but now allows great diversity among its ranks. The evangelical church has splintered off into a multitude of denominations each with their own exclusive doctrines and practices shunning the rest. This has also given rise to other fringe groups producing both fanatical and the heretical. Yet, Jesus Christ prayed for unity among all true believers, that they would be one as the Father and the Son are One, in unity of thought and action. Jesus went on to say that this unity among true believers would be a witness to the world that He was sent by the Father. Unity among all true believers would be a witness! Let me suggest that this would be a very powerful witness to a dying world that has all but rejected Jesus Christ as the only Savior. The voice of Christians and the diversity of His churches has had little effect upon the world. No one is listening. Yet they listen to the heathen in protest, while their numbers are very small, their voices are united. The unrighteous minority has had a profound effect upon the direction of this country, while the Christian Church has had almost none. Christian unity can have a formidable voice to a divided world, but before we continue it’s necessary to deal with the one objection that many have in our day when discussing unity. God’s Powerful Delusion

Mankind is always learning but never perceiving. He is always studying but never understanding.  With man’s quest for the truth and his efforts in higher learning it has only driven him further away from the truth. With all of man’s dreams, visions, and so called prophecies it has only driven him further away from the truth. Like a rudderless ship many are always cast about by every wind of doctrine, but never coming to the simple truth. For a reason that I will explain later, many have never been happy with the simple truth, but have attempted to complicate it, by adding teachings, upon teachings, too such a degree that the truth is lost and man is left in the wilderness wandering about with no hope but condemned to a life of misery and greater confusion. In large part this is the condition of the church around the world and especially here in America. They have lost their way and no longer love the truth which has lulled the church to sleep. No matter what happens the church will not awaken until she returns to the simple truth. Persecution and death will not awaken her, nor will death and destruction caused by the increase in natural disasters, nor will wars or rumors of war, but they will remain in their sleep continually tossed about by every wind of doctrine. Even revivals will not awaken the church until she returns to the simple truth and demonstrate her love for it. Until that happens she along with the rest of the world will rest under the powerful delusion sent by God for their rejection of His truth. Continue reading God’s Powerful Delusion

How Deep are Your Theological Roots?

How Deep are Your Theological RootsMany have a very shallow theology and to read something that is deep becomes very difficult and nearly impossible to understand. They have remained infants contented only with the milk of God’s Word never pressing on to be nourished by the meat. (See Hebrews 6:1-3)  Like the large oak trees in my back yard where the roots must go deep to withstand the sudden and powerful winds of Texas, Christians must also have deep theological roots if they are going to withstand strong winds of false doctrine. We must move on from the simple gospel, a gospel simple enough for a child to understand, to a solid theological belief system. To do so will cause your head to hurt and your spirit to cry out for understanding. To move on from the milk to solid food will be the most difficult thing you have done but so necessary in a world full of confusion caused by cunning men and deceitful liars.
