Three Great Powers to Overcome the Wiles of the Devil

The lukewarm church and the religious cult are both powerless to stand against the wiles of the devil. Both are missing the power of love, the power of forgiveness and the power of the resurrection – three great powers to overcome the wiles of the devil. Satan and the unclean spirits (or fallen angels) are incapable of overcoming these three great powers made manifest in God’s true children, the faithful remnant. This is good news for the end time saints who have witnessed the influence of Satan to capture so many in our day. Addiction to prescription drugs, both pain killers and psychiatric, have decimated the population leaving most under the control of demonic influence and the power of sin. A lukewarm church has done little in equipping the believers to stand against the wiles of the devil. The religious cult has robbed the believers of their power to stand against the trickery and deception of Satan. Psychiatry and the medical professionals are throwing different labels on people at the speed of light to explain their bizarre and unbelievable behavior. The world, the lukewarm church, and the religious cults are powerless to stand against the wiles of the devil. On the other hand, true believers have that power. All Prayer

Today’s article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The next piece of armor to be put on by the Christian soldier is all prayer. Those on the front lines in any military campaign will tell you the importance of good communication with their headquarters. It is no different with the Christian soldier who is also on the front lines in his struggle against the enemy; he needs good communication with his Commander in Chief. Prayer is essential as we wait to strike the enemy with just the right words from God so that it will penetrate their heart and win another victory for Christ. There are many kinds of prayers, and they are all useful in standing against the devil. There is intercessory prayer where we pray for others that God will meet their specific needs, there is a prayer of thanksgiving and praise, there is a prayer of repentance and confession, there is a prayer for a specific mission activity, there is prayer of meditation on God’s Holy Word, and there is prayer against the strongholds of the devil. It takes all kinds of prayer to stand against the wiles of the devil. Continue reading All Prayer

The Sword of the Spirit

Today’s article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The next piece of armor to be put on by the Christian soldier is the sword of the Spirit. This is the weapon that our Lord and Savior used against the devil in His wilderness temptations. Notice that the devil was the one who first quoted Old Testament scripture, which was then countered by Christ with another scripture. When Jesus Christ quoted scripture He shed light on the devil’s misinterpretation of God’s Word by putting it into its proper context. As we fast approach the end of days, many are coming out from the church, no longer resting under its authority and guidance for scriptural interpretation, which leaves many to interpret scripture as they feel led. The problem is who’s doing the leading, is it the Holy Spirit of God who leads us into all truth or is it the devil disguising himself as an angel of light? Continue reading The Sword of the Spirit

The Helmet of Salvation

Today’s article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The next piece of armor to be put on by the Christian soldier is the helmet of salvation. If the devil cannot discourage you with doubt concerning your mission, then he will attack your very salvation. If he can get you to question the assurance of your salvation, then he has stopped you dead in your tracks. You will precede no further because your eyes are now back on self questioning your own salvation. The devil has silenced many Christians this way. Not only have they been silenced, but their spiritual growth has been stunted, and in many respects the transformation process has been halted. Dear friend, you must not let the old devil knock off the helmet of your salvation. Some Christians argue against the assurance of salvation because of what they see in nominal Christians. They question how a person can claim to be saved and act like the devil. They question the assurance of their salvation because they see no spiritual fruit. Indeed, some people do have false assurance because they are not really saved. They may publicly ask Jesus Christ to come into their heart with great joy, join a church, and be baptized. But they are like the ones in the parable told by our Lord where some quickly fell away when trouble or persecution came. There are others who hear the Word but do nothing with it because the worries of this life and deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful (see Matthew 13:21-22). Clearly these people are not Christians, and many of them rest under a false assurance of salvation. Continue reading The Helmet of Salvation

The Shield of Faith

Today’s article continues an eight week series on the armor of God. A very important part of being prepared spiritually for the “End Times” is being dressed in and utilizing the whole armor of God for Satan will be extremely powerful and even more deceptive because he knows that his time is short. The shield of faith is the next piece of armor to be put on by the Christian soldier. As the Christian soldier goes deep into enemy territory to rescue the perishing the devil will hurl a volley of flaming arrows to discourage you in your pursuit. Upon receiving one of his arrows, you may experience strong emotions of fear, emptiness, aloneness, and doubt that comes in an instant when you least expect it, and then your spirit cries out in anguish begging for someone to listen to your plight. These arrows are all the more destructive in power. They have the ability to pierce and seriously wound the soldier. When the piercing arrows of depression, anger, and fear are filling the air, we must learn to take refuge behind the shield of faith (see Proverbs 30:5).  As we come together as believers, we can link our faith-shields to ward off the devil’s darts.
