Shelter in Place an Enigma in Disguise

Shelter in Place an Enigma in Disguise

With all the evil things in the world today, we hear a lot about “shelter in place.” Every time there’s a mass shooting or a disaster we usually hear this refrain and we all know what to do. Don’t move from the area, take cover, and remain silent. We are not meant to fight back, but hide. For many, if not most, it’s the loneliest time in their life. You are left completely alone with your fears, your anxiety and the unknown. The dark daunting unknown. Almost anything these days could cause us to shelter in place, from mass shootings to natural disasters; and, from martial law to a nuclear attack as we hear it over the loud speakers or on emergency radios. Yet, this is an enigma in disguise, because where is the real shelter? You are hiding, hunkered down, behind an unlocked door or in your home, but where is the real shelter? Where is the solace, or the comfort that everything is ok? For those in the world there is no real shelter. Shelter in place is an enigma, but for the believers it should be different. Let me show you how.

When tragedy strikes you’re not alone. No matter how tragic your circumstances God is with us through the indwelling Holy Spirit. As the world panics and cries out in agony, we are convinced that nothing happens to His beloved children unless He allows it. So, we must ask ourselves, “what is the worst-case scenario?” What is the greatest fear of fallen humanity? And the answer, “To be tortured to death.” It has been proven over and over again that God has the ability to take away the pain. In all the persecutions throughout the ages there is no known recorded account of true believers crying out in agony while suffering at the hands of evil men. On the contrary, most exhibited an unusual calmness and peace that defies understanding. Moreover, many exhibited an unnatural love for their tormentors and on occasion praising God and giving testimony to God’s grace and mercy to save fallen humanity. They do not need to storm the gates of Heaven, because He is already there through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

While the heathen world is thrown into confusion and pandemonium let the believers in Christ be strong pillars exhibiting peace, speaking with great strength, confidence and clarity as instructions are followed to shelter in place. For the world, there is no real shelter from the horrors of impending doom, but for the believers they have already found their shelter in God. The Bible says, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler” (Psalms 91:4). Let us never cower even under impending doom, but show our strength in the relationship we have with a mighty and an all-powerful God. Demonstrating among the heathen that our trust is in our God to either deliver us or give us the strength to stand up under it. The Bible says, “There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13).

As the world falls apart around us, our true solace and peace is in Christ. In the dark night of our soul spoken of by St. John of the Cross, a 16th Century Spanish Carmelite, let us enter into that sanctuary of peace instead of being horrified by what’s happening around us. To do so will allow us to take comfort in God’s presence. To take encouragement from His Words spoken so softly to the soul giving it meaning in a world of confusion. In an instant, everything becomes crystal clear. The whole world is but a stage with meaningless pawns moved about to bring forth the ultimate consummation of humanity and the salvation of millions of souls to the glory of God. No longer are we caught up in the senseless day to day, moment by moment, drama played out by men who think they have the power to change the direction of the world and humanity’s fate. All is vanity. Ringing so true from the writer of Ecclesiastes, who was acquainted with universal truth well before his time. All is vanity, indeed, but for the believer his life is not vanity who has his life hid in Christ and sees the future through the lens of Christ, the Alpha and the Omega.

So what difference does a day make? For fallen humanity it makes no difference, but for His beloved children, every day is important as we work together, united in Spirit from around the world and throughout the ages, to shape not the outward world, but the inward Spirit to be the true tabernacle as a dwelling place for God. Yes, the One true God living in us, all of us, through His Spirit. So, this should be our aim to reach beyond the religious barriers erected by deranged men, demonstrating the pride of Satan himself. Then the question arises, can we trust God to make all His children one without the help of prideful man producing his doctrines. Doctrines that don’t always follow the Spirit of God, but end up being nothing better than the doctrine of demons. Doctrines used by man’s laziness, because he doesn’t want to spend the time studying God’s Word. If we are faithful to God’s Word then He will make us one. The Pope can’t do it. All the great religious leaders can’t do it. Political leadership can’t do it. And, let me emphasize that even the coming Antichrist can’t do it, even with his false prophet. But only God can do it by teaching His beloved children to look beyond the doctrines of man and look to His Word alone that’s made alive through the indwelling Spirit of God. That gives us everything we need for life and godliness (See II Peter 1:3). It’s this unity in the Spirit that gives us strength as we stand together to face the horrors of the world.

As we become one in Christ, everything comes into focus. For the first time we see, we really see our present reality, we see what lies on the horizon and the culmination of humanity’s fate. The tumult will be global reaching from shore to shore and around the world, we all know that it’s coming. This we can see clearly, but what do we see now? Those whom we never thought could be believers in Christ are becoming believers. The old religious territories are coming to life, the people of old are now seeing a great light beyond the foolishness of man-made religions of all the “isms” to a new life in Christ. No longer interested in the doctrines of man, they are seeking a higher calling in Christ to walk by His Spirit alone. This wave will have a profound effect upon humanity as it sweeps across the world enveloping everything in its path, until it runs into the walls erected by the Antichrist and his false prophet. For his rule will be fantastic, gathering up millions to follow his doctrines created by self-righteous man.

Millions will die finding that the shelter of man can no longer protect them from what’s coming upon the whole world. For those who are one in the Spirit of the living God have no fear. All fear is jettisoned knowing that what awaits them, is by far, a better place. They have already caught a glimpse of it by all being in the same Spirit. They have seen the love that has brought every race, culture, and nationality together as one in the same Spirit. This is a far cry from the old globalism sought by so many in ages past. For this unity embraces every individual who has turned to Christ in repentance and received the Spirit of the living God. We see the fulfillment of Christ’s high priestly prayer, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me” (John 17:21). They have caught a glimpse of Heaven by witnessing the shunning of man’s religious doctrines and seeing millions who are now growing in the Spirit by putting off the old man and putting on the new. So, as they face the last hour together there is great joy in their heart, because the last enemy to be defeated is death. “Oh Death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?” (I Corinthians 15:55)

Mankind’s shelter in place is an enigma in disguise, but for the true believer in Christ we already have our shelter in Christ as we approach tomorrow, no longer with uncertainty but with great joy in our heart for the things to come. We will overcome, because we have “… come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Amen

  1. 2 Cor 1:20 is our strength & power “in Him”. ‘We are not our own,but bought at a price.’- We need to trust in our Lord with all our heart,& not in our ‘own’ understanding.,Him having paid ‘our ransom’ in full.Whatever happens….’the joy of the Lord is our strength’ TRUST is our only need of ‘qualification.’ HE makes ‘a way!’

  2. Thank you for this info. I have known about this for 47 years. Being taught by my Pastor.

    In Jesus love.
