PRAYERS FOR THE LAST WEEK,  IN CASE YOU MISSED ONE

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/4/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank Father God for the awesome responsibility we have in prayer not only for ourselves but for everyone in our family. We not only pray for ourselves but for each member of our family that they too will be provided with all their essential needs for life. Thank you, Lord, for teaching us that our needs reach well beyond the physical to also include the spiritual and psychological needs of our families. We pray that you remind us of this daunting, yet rewarding, task that must be done every day. In so doing, we are forced to ask ourselves what “are the real needs of our family members” so that we can pray aright, so that we can remember their emotional, psychological, and physical needs. You have taught us that this task of praying for our families must also include our spiritual family who also struggle daily and who are in need of all the provisions that you so freely offer to your beloved children. Lead us to always pray very specifically for each need as you reveal them through your Spirit. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/3/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Every day, Lord, you know that we are faced with the daunting task of using the right words and even images to convey your thoughts to a fallen world. To convey your thoughts, from the indwelling Spirit, about the real condition of fallen humanity and its need for repentance. We have discovered that we need more than just the right words to open their minds and hearts to the truth. In a very visual society, we need images that will awaken the soul and fire more than just the imagination; images that will convey your truth. Oh Lord, we pray for such wisdom not only in our spoken words but also in the images we share. We pray that all of our words and images come directly from you and not from our vain imaginations that seek glory and honor only for ourselves. Teach us to wait quietly on you to give us everything we need through the indwelling Spirit to bring glory only to you in both our spoken words and images. We know to do so will confound our adversaries. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist” (Luke 21:15).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/2/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. “They did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity!” Oh Lord, how this verse keeps ringing in our ears today. Your church and her people have become so soft and pleasing to the world offering them exactly what they are looking for in comfort and austerity. We pray that you send a wakeup call to all your children to rebuke the world of their sins, by refusing to participate in them. As they withdraw from their schools, social clubs, forms of entertainment, and their religious organizations, let them warn them sternly that they will reap the consequences of their sins against a holy God. Let them proclaim loudly to the masses that their sins are at the root of ALL the world’s problems and that nothing will ever get better until they openly repent. Government decrees and politicians will not fix their problems. Even religion will not fix their problems. Only true repentance will ever fix their problems. We pray that you will give every child of God an opportunity and boldness to do their part in ushering in your eternal Kingdom. We pray this in Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading” (Lamentations 2:14, NIV).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/1/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Why do some people suffer so greatly where they are constantly plagued with both physical and psychological problems? Why do they struggle with overcoming their sins that are keeping them in bondage? We often wonder, Oh Lord, if the underlying problem is much deeper than they might openly admit. We perceive in the Spirit that their real problems may have resulted from their unwillingness to truly forgive others from the heart. They too have become the unforgiven. Without your forgiveness then we are destined for a life of stress, misery, emotional, and psychological upheaval. Without your forgiveness then it’s impossible to enjoy the tremendous joy that comes from a closer walk with you. Without your forgiveness, it’s impossible to receive all your many blessings for a long and prosperous life. We pray that you will teach all of your beloved children how to truly forgive others from the heart so that nothing will hinder your forgiveness. Oh Lord, please let them understand the three principles of true forgiveness, by not bringing it up again, by not telling others, and not dwelling on it. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:15).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 11/30/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Why do we endure trouble? Why have we been perplexed but not in despair? Why have we been persecuted by those who hate our writings and the truth of the Gospel, but not forsaken? Why have we been cast down again and again, but we have not been destroyed? We believe that you have shown us, Oh Lord, that it is all for the sake of the indestructible Gospel that must be delivered to your beloved children; delivered to your children who also struggle in the world. We believe that it is to give your beloved children an example of how you continually pick them up and not allow them to be overcome by the evil world. Our hearts are overjoyed that we once again have the blessed opportunity to deliver your truth not only to your beloved children but also to a dying and frustrated world that struggles daily with their anger and stress. Thank you for the peace, the joy, and the strength that you have so freely given to us, your children to fight the good fight of faith. We pray this in the Blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed” (II Corinthians 4:8-9).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 11/21/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Although the ultimate sacrifice was made by your beloved Son on the Cross for all of our sins past, present, and future, many still try to follow the old traditions in appeasing you for their many transgressions. They attempt to please or placate you by sacrifices of their time, their resources, or their financial offerings. They attempt to win your forgiveness through many and various ways from empty promises to revised commitments. We pray that all your children will understand that the only sacrifice acceptable is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. This is when we beat our chest like the publican and realize that we have sinned against our Creator. This is when we feel the pressure of real agonizing guilt tug on our hearts. This is when true tears of remorse flow uncontrollably down our cheeks as we acknowledge our sins before our holy God. This is when we realize God’s gracious love to us sinners. This is when we realize that you are willing to gently pick us up through the power of forgiveness and restoration. Praise God! We pray this in the magnificent Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise” (Psalms 51:17).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 11/20/2019

Good morning Heavenly Father. Oh Lord, thank you for not giving up on us, as others in an evil world are prone to do. You have graciously cleansed our hearts many times over the years of our journey together. Although in the beginning when our sins appeared to be so ugly and grotesque, we have learned that even the so-called smaller sins now are equally offensive to you our holy God. So, we pray that you continue to cleanse us of every sin, even if we consider the trespass insignificant. We pray that we feel the conviction of the indwelling Spirit leading us to confession and repentance. We pray that all of your beloved children will not ignore the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The conviction brought forth in many different ways to get our attention, from the rebuke of fellow believers to physical maladies; and from emotional to psychological problems. We always long for the refreshing waters of forgiveness, restoration, and the joy of our salvation. We so desire to have a right spirit within us so that nothing hinders our closer walk with you. We humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalms 51:10).
